From characters with unique powers to half-human protagonists, anime has truly covered it all. Although we enjoy anime that portray characters with grave, world-ending missions, seeing those with bottomless vaults mindlessly showcasing their wealth could also be equally entertaining.

Whether it’s living in literal palaces to dropping millions without a sweat, these characters live lives we plebeians could only fantasise about. Despite their unimaginable riches, calling them lazy, unproductive slackers would be the farthest thing from the truth. Their striving for more, for better and greater heights that wealth alone cannot give them, makes these characters with fat wallets all the more likable.

10 Daisuke Kambe

Fugou Keiji Balance: Unlimited

Head of the billionaire Kambe family, it is safe to say that Kambe Daisuke does not need to work. However, the man has a full-time career as a detective, an occupation he chose due to his mother’s murder.

With endless resources at his disposal, Kambe uses the latest technologies to solve cases, even throwing a billion yen at someone to commandeer their car in order to catch a criminal. Working alongside his partner, Haru Kato, who shows him the reality of life for the everyday man, and that not all problems can be solved just by throwing money at them.

9 Yaoyorozu Momo

My Hero Academia

Sweet and wholesome, My Hero Academia’s Yaoyorozu Momo is not only one of if not the richest characters in the anime but also one of the most intelligent. Heiress to the Yaoyorozu family fortune, Momo consistently outperforms her classmates academically.

Despite her wealth and achievements, Momo is humble and does not hesitate to help her classmates. She struggles with self-confidence early in the story but gradually places her faith in herself, learning to use her highly adaptable Creation Quirk and her sharp mind to get her and her friends out of sticky situations.

8 Gojo Satoru

Jujutsu Kaisen

Gojo Satoru is the most powerful sorcerer of his era and, as head of the Gojo Clan, has access to the fortunes of one of the Big Three sorcerer families. We see glimpses of his wealth throughout the series, from sending millions to Mei Mei as a bribe to wearing expensive clothes.

In addition to his inherited family wealth, Gojo earns top dollar – or shall we say yen? – by exorcising curses for the higher-ups as the most on-demand sorcerer. Working also as a teacher at Jujutsu High, Gojo uses his resources to advance his students, even financing Megumi and Tsumiki Fushiguro’s living expenses after he killed their father.

7 Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald

Bungo Stray Dogs

The main antagonist of the third season of Bungo Stray Dogs, Francis Fitzgerald was the head of The Guild, a group of American ability users he collected using his immense wealth and manipulative tactics.

His own Ability, The Great Fitzgerald, is even tied to money. To put it simply, the more cash he burns, the greater his physical strength becomes. Although he ended up losing his wealth at the end of season three, his resourcefulness and cunning enabled him to build it back up just as quickly.

6 Momonga AKA Ainz Ooal Gown

Overlord

Ainz Ooal Gown, also known as Momonga, is the guildmaster of Ainz Ooal Gown, Overlord of Nazarick, Sorcerer King, and many other lofty titles that could give even Daenerys Targaryen pause. The greatest and most powerful of the Supreme Beings, he had amassed untold amounts of wealth and was a collector of priceless and legendary relics.

Despite his riches and intimidating skeletal appearance, Momonga is, in truth, an overworked salaryman named Suzuki Satoru who used the live-service game Yggdrasil as a form of escapism. He has moments of self-doubt over his position, but he is motivated to help better the lives of NPCs living under his protection.

5 Ciel Phantomhive

As head of House Phantomhive and the Funtom Corporation, to say Ciel Phantomhive is wealthy would be an understatement. Part of the noble class, Ciel splurges on whatever he wants but is generous enough to spend on his servants’ needs.

Ciel sold his soul to Sebastian Michaelis in exchange for his help in tracking down who murdered his parents. In the meantime, Ciel keeps busy with missions as Queen Victoria’s Watchdog and running the family business while living in the lap of luxury.

4 Honda Hanako

Asobi Asobase

Among the band of three misfits Asobi Asobase centers on, Honda Hanako is certainly the wackiest of them all. Hanako is exuberant, loud, competitive, and academically talented, and she is part of a wealthy family. This is very evident with her butler, Maeda, who follows Hanako around largely without her knowledge – even to school.

Although she buys expensive (and weird) clothes and has an automaton built for her, Hanako has a love for inexpensive things, like nail polish you can buy for cheap in the supermarket. She is also obsessed with being popular in school, but her schemes always end up landing her in trouble.

3 Akashi Seijuro

Kuroko no Basuke

A prodigy at basketball, Akashi Seijuro is intimidating and a generally no-nonsense guy. The leader of both his middle school and high school basketball teams, Akashi is overbearing and carries scissors around with him, which he uses to slice at those he dislikes. Yeah, fun guy.

His inability to form close relationships with others largely stems from his relationship with his father. As part of a fabulously wealthy family, Akashi is repeatedly pressured by his father to be the best at everything, which guides the way he acts towards his teammates.

2 Damian Desmond

Spy X Family

Much like the previous character on this list, Damian Desmond is from a prominent, wealthy family but has a strained relationship with them. Damian constantly looks for approval from his father and feels overshadowed by his older brother’s achievements.

In spite of his family troubles, Damian does well in school, scoring high marks in exams. He hides his fears and insecurity with a cocky attitude, which causes him to butt heads with protagonist Anya Forger. He develops an adorable crush on Anya, however, even risking his life to protect her.

1 Kaguya Shinomiya

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War

Kaguya Shinomiya is part of the wealthy Shinomiya family, wherein she was raised in a cutthroat family environment that led Kaguya to largely distance herself from them. Despite her very privileged yet isolated childhood, Kaguya developed alternate personalities to deal with difficult situations.

A high achiever in school, she joined the student council and eventually formed the first genuine connections in her young life. She meets and falls in love with Miyuki Shirogane, the student council president, and is now locked in a long, drawn-out battle about who will confess first.
