Key Takeaways
- We all love a good Easter Egg tucked away in a video game, and Stalker 2 continues that tradition.
- As discovered by a fan on Twitter, there is an homage to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in Pripyat.
- The homage is in reference to the One Shot, One Kill mission that also took place in Pripyat.
Few things in gaming are as satisfying as a well-executed Easter Egg. Some can be extremely subtle, like the Dungeon Meshi Easter Egg tucked away in Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s Arlathan Forest. And some can be super overt, like the picture of beta Frank West tucked away in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

Stalker 2’s Buggy Launch Isn’t Going To Matter In The End
Hardcore fans are going to stick with GSC Game World’s sequel no matter what.
With Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl out in the wild, and over a million people having either bought the game or playing it on Game Pass, an homage to the original Modern Warfare has been found tucked away in the game’s map. What’s more, it’s a near 1:1 recreation of one of Call of Duty‘s best missions.
One Shot, One Kill
As discovered by OperatorDrewski on Twitter, in Pripyat there is a snipe rifle tucked away in a high-rise building. Normally, that wouldn’t be too much to go off of, but avid first-person shooter fans will remember that Pripyat was the location for Modern Warfare’s One Shot, One Kill mission.
That mission involved a sniper rifle and took place in a high-rise building, making the Easter Egg more than just a random coincidence or find.
For those whose memory might be a little fuzzy, One Shot, One Kill is the mission following the iconic All Ghillied Up sequence. It takes place in Pripyat and sees the player attempting to take out Zakhaev as Price. It marks one of the best two-mission stretches in COD history, and is the perfect canvas for an Easter Egg.
Unfortunately, the sniper rifle in Stalker 2 isn’t an M82 .50 caliber rifle, though that would’ve been a really neat addition. “Make the barrel exploded or something, so the player can’t use it,” one gamer wrote on Twitter, noting how neat it would’ve been if it was a 1:1 replica. Still, what an amazing Easter Egg for an equally amazing game.
