The Cross Guild and the Blackbeard pirates might be heading towards an alliance. Here’s how that could happen in One Piece.
Of course, when one speaks of the most important characters in the Final Saga, Blackbeard certainly comes to mind. There’s a lot of intrigue surrounding the character of Blackbeard, and fans know that this particular individual holds many secrets. From being able to consume multiple Devil Fruits, all the way down to his obscure connection to Rocks D. Xebec, Blackbeard is a box of mysteries. In fact, more recently in One Piece, Blackbeard’s special bloodline was hinted at, which might hold the answer to several mysteries surrounding this character.
Why Blackbeard Is Special In One Piece
- Blackbeard Could Eat Two Devil Fruits
- Blackbeard Could Be Connected To Rocks
Blackbeard’s special status is undebatable in One Piece. Fans know that he is not normal in any way, and even though he appeared to be just another individual who happens to be a powerful pirate up until one point, fans eventually changed their opinion of him when they found out that he truly is out of the ordinary. The first hint of Blackbeard being special came through the character of Shanks. Shanks specifically sought out Whitebeard and requested him to recall Ace from his hunt for Blackbeard.
Recall Ace. I know he’s strong, but Blackbeard is too dangerous! – Shanks
Of course, Shanks had no idea that Whitebeard did not want Ace to hunt him down in the first place, but that is beside the point. What matters here truly is that Shanks knew of the threat that Blackbeard posed and it was quite clear to the readers that this character was incredibly difficult for just anyone to face. In the Paramount War, Blackbeard shocked all readers when he managed to consume more than one Devil Fruit. He was directly responsible for Whitebeard’s death, and, eventually, after his death, he even ended up consuming his Gura Gura no Mi. This shocked the fans because Teach had already had one devil fruit by this point.
Eating a second one meant that he went against the law of Devil Fruits that suggests no more than one Devil Fruit to be present inside one body. Even the Five Elders, who have been alive since the time of the Void Century and know most about the Devil Fruits and the secrets of the world, clearly stated that no individual has eaten more than one Devil Fruit in the entire history of these abilities. This means Blackbeard is special in more ways than one.
When the question of how Blackbeard managed to eat two Devil Fruits came up, Marco simply suggested that while it should be impossible for any normal human, Blackbeard is not normal. His body is special in some way that makes it possible for him to do so. Naturally, fans know that special bodies exist in One Piece, and this could directly be tied to a special race of people of the One Piece world, or, Blackbeard’s case being special in some other way.
Blackbeard’s Ability To Hold Multiple Devil Fruits
Blackbeard Continues His Hunt For Powerful Devil Fruits
Blackbeard’s ability to hold multiple Devil Fruits in One Piece is directly linked to his body. As fans know, Blackbeard’s body is not normal. He can absorb damage like a sponge, and continue to fight at the top of his ability despite being injured. Ace injured Blackbeard on multiple occasions, even throwing lots of flames directly through his heart. Yet, Blackbeard survived in the end, and was proclaimed the winner. In every battle that Blackbeard fights, he is seen taking massive damage, but, in the end, he turns out to be the winner anyway. This clearly suggests that Blackbeard’s body is designed to withstand damage.
With these two abilities, I truly am invincible! – Blackbeard
On top of that, fans know that things are special about Blackbeard’s kind in general. This was hinted at in One Piece chapter 966, where Roger Pirate clashed against the Whitebeard Pirates. Here, Buggy clearly stated that Blackbeard does not sleep. Tying this back to the Drum Island Arc, Luffy said that in some countries, people can’t sleep, and they die if they do. This makes Blackbeard’s bloodline somewhat special.

One Piece: Oda Sets Up The Biggest War In The Series So Far
Oda is building the foundation of what will be the biggest war in One Piece. This will be the peak of the Final Saga.
Blackbeard is likely from a race of people, or from a group of individuals, who cannot sleep. Perhaps this race of people was part of some experiment, or the race was cursed with the inability to sleep because the demon inside would kill them. Perhaps, there is another entity inside of Blackbeard that prevents him from sleeping, or, would take over when he does sleep. This could, in some ways, be similar to the case of Hakuba, but only much worse. This could also explain his two Devil Fruit abilities. Perhaps, the entity inside of Blackbeard holds one, and Blackbeard himself holds the other.
The case of Blackbeard being special was confirmed by Saint Saturn himself recently in the Egghead Arc. When Saturn met Katarina Devon and Van Augur, he clearly said that Blackbeard is special, as is his bloodline. This essentially means that Blackbeard’s blood is special in some way, be it from his race, or from his parentage.
When Will Blackbeard’s Truth Be Revealed?
Blackbeard Will Be Under The Spotlight In The Final Saga
Clearly, there are many mysteries surrounding Blackbeard, especially his lineage. What fans know so far is that Blackbeard is from a special bloodline, which could either mean that he has a connection to someone special, like Rox D. Xebec, or, his line of people is special in the sense that his race cannot sleep and are possessed by something that threatens them if they do. This also means that the special race of people holds the ability to hold multiple powers at once, at the expense of being able to control whatever entity lies within.
This holds the key to Blackbeard’s deepest secrets, and fans can only hope that these secrets are elaborated upon soon enough. Of course, One Pieceentering the Final Saga means that it isn’t long until Blackbeard’s secrets are finally expanded upon, and fans can only hope that Oda puts some focus on this particular member of the Four Emperors and expands upon him greatly. All fans would love to see more about Blackbeard being revealed, and hopefully, Elbaf arc will see to it when he attacks the holy land of Marijoa, or crosses his paths with none other than the red-haired Emperor, Shanks.
Things are finally heating up in the Final Saga, and it is at this point that all secrets about the major characters of One Piece, as well as the deepest secrets of the world, such as the Void Century, among others, will be revealed to the fans. All readers need to do is sit back patiently and wait.
