How To Find Your Minecraft Seed

The method to find your world seed varies by the version of Minecraft you’re playing on.

Java Edition

Originally, there were a few more steps to this process but in modern editions of Java, all you need to find your seed is to open up the chat box and type “/seed” (without the quotation marks).

This will list out the number of your seed, and should work in single player worlds as well as online realms. However, if for some reason this command is disabled, there are other ways to obtain your seed.

The best way is to download a backup of the world, and recreate it. When you’re recreating the world, you’ll be able to see the world seed in the advanced options.

On Bedrock, all you need to do to find your world seed is to boot up the game, and click the “edit world” button (a pencil symbol next to your world). Scroll down the options until you find your world seed. You can also customize the optimal Minecraft settings from this menu.
