Much like the mainline Horizon games, you’ll face loads of bosses in Lego Horizon Adventures. Most of them are the simple machines you know and love – Thunderjaws and Stalker, that kind of thing. However, the final boss in the game is a little different.

The end of the story sees you face off against the Ancient Goop Monster, a mass of fiery gloop and machinery. This is by far the hardest boss in what is otherwise a pretty simple game. Not only does it have a variety of hard to avoid attacks, but it has a huge health bar that is tough to whittle down.
Ancient Goop Monster Attacks
Instead of the standard boss fight structure of a few stages, each with different attacks, the Ancient Goop Monster uses the same group of attacks throughout the fight. You need to know how to avoid them and how to see them coming. Those attacks are:
Attack |
How to Avoid |
---|---|
Dual fire laser guns |
A large red circle appears around it before firing two beams of fire. The red circle is where fire will be after the attack, so simply avoid the red circle. |
Rocket barrage |
You’ll see three overlapping red circles appear on the ground. The monster fire exploding rockets to land there, so dodge out of the way. |
Vertical fire guns |
The Ancient Goop Monster fires two flaming shots forward after two red lines appear on the ground. This is easier to dodge than the circular similar attack. |
Blight |
It summons blight around the area. Touching it damages you. |
Slam Down |
The Monster slams down and sends out a wave of damage you need to jump over to avoid. |
How To Defeat The Ancient Goop Monster
After you’ve learned how to avoid the Ancient Goop Monster’s attacks, you need to learn how to actually damage him. First of all, use your Focus to scan the area as soon as the fight starts.
That will show you that you need to attack the joints on each of the monster’s legs to damage him. You can’t do it all the time, so keep scanning and attack the legs when they glow blue. Once you’ve attacked all four, the monster will fall over and you can attack it to deal more damage without the threat of attack. Keep doing this until the end of the fight.
However, there is another way to deal damage to the monster. When the Blight appears around the arena, attack it. That will also deal damage to the monster.
