Key Takeaways
- The Sims 4: Life and Death expansion adds new urn options, allowing Sims to choose unique resting places.
- Urns in the game range from classic designs to special ones for occult states like Servos, Aliens, Vampires, and more.
- Players can choose urns based on their Sims’ personalities, with options like the Golden Wings Urn, Mermaid Urn, and the beautiful Space Urn.
As the saying goes, there’s more than one way to skin a cat, and there’s more than one way to bury a Sim. Traditionally, Sims that had their mortal remains placed outside had gravestones, while Sims who stayed inside had urns. With the arrival of The Sims 4: Life and Death, Sims can now have urns wherever they’d like.

All of the urns added in this update are great additions to the game, but which are the best? Which are the most awesome of areas for ashes? Look no further: these are all the urns in The Sims 4: Life and Death, ranked.
9 The Original Urn
Can’t Beat A Classic
This urn is simply a classic. The Original Urn was the very first urn added to the game and will be familiar to any Simmer who has kept the ashes of a sim inside. For those who want something classy yet simple, this Urn is the perfect choice.
Urns have been in the series since the original Sims game, and function just like gravestones do. Be careful you don’t smash them, or the ghosts might be unhappy.
8 The Servo Urn
Into Sleep Mode
All men must die – but Servos are not men. Er, well, it seems that they, too, must die. For Servos that die, this Urn awaits. It is made of metal and carved to resemble the Servos themselves in a fitting tribute.
Fun fact: Servos can only die by losing control, being squashed by a Murphy bed, water, and (weirdly enough) Rabid Rodent Fever. Make sure your Servos don’t catch rabies, or they’ll end up in this urn.
7 The Alien Urn
The Final Spaceship
Occult states have their own special urns, and the Alien occult state is no exception. Aliens that choose to rest in urns get a large metalic urn with a faintly silver sheen. Moving the camera around the urn will reveal a clever octogonal pattern.

As Aliens were the first Occult state added to the game, this is the first special Urn that was added. With the Life and Death update, anyone can choose this special urn.
6 The Golden Wings Urn
On The Wings Of Angels
Wings have been a symbol of death for ages. It makes sense that there would be an urn added to the game that embraces this motif. The Golden Wings Urn is an urn that seems to give your deceased Sims’ wings. No need to worry about being buried in your best suit when you can gain wings after death.
This urn is made of gold and is quite simple, apart from the winged design. If your Sim wished to become an angel (or was a devil with an appreciation for irony), try out the Golden Wings urn.
5 The Simple Urn
No Need For Fuss
Some Sims would prefer a more simple resting place. For those Sims, the Simple Urn awaits. The Simple Urn is a small urn made of a marble material. The only adornment is a golden lid and a golden band around the top.
Urns can be chosen by the player by clicking on the urn/gravestone. These can be changed as soon as the Sim is deceased, allowing for the correct urn to be used at the funeral.
4 The Mermaid Urn
Burial At Sea
For Sims with a nautical bent, there’s no better final resting place than the Mermaid Urn (at least until they add burial at sea). The Mermaid urn is a large cream urn made up of mosaic pieces. A tail and the ocean have been rendered in little pieces of stone.

Remember to choose an urn with your Sims’ personalities in mind. This adds a new level of immersion to the game, and makes each Sim life feel special.
3 The Glowing Urn
Glow Among The Ashes
This urn is unique as it looks as if it’s made from a glowing material. It almost seems to be made from carved moonstone, with a deep glow seeming to come from inside. Moonstone doesn’t seem like a stable material to build an urn from, but it works here.
The shape is also interesting, as it is carved in a flowing, almost waterlike way. This urn would be perfect for the Sims who truly want something unique for their loved ones or themselves.
2 The Vampire Urn
Dust To Dust
Unfortunately, the only real way a Vampire sim can die kind of involves a mandatory cremation. Vampire Sims can die by sunlight, reducing them to ashes in moments. Oof.

At least the Vampire Urn offers an appropriately regal resting place for the kings and queens of the night. Made of black stone and finished with a vampire bat on the lid, this urn is the perfect resting place for those Vampires with the misfortune to see a sunrise.
1 The Space Urn
Rest Among The Stars
This urn is probably the most beautiful one of them all. Added in the Life and Death expansion, the Space Urn is a simple yet striking urn that seems to have been inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
Choosing an urn can be hard. It’s difficult to sum up an entire Sim life in one object. But for those Sims who would have wanted beauty even in death, the Space Urn is a wonderful option.
