What to do with PDAs?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is definitely more complex than any of its predecessors, and as such it has quite a lot of items that players might be carrying around for no apparent reason. One of them is the many PDAs players might find around the wastelands, and several fans might be wondering what to do with all of these.

The problem with PDAs is that they bring useful information, at the cost of taking space in the inventory, and though their weight might seem just a little bit at first, it can become a problem really fast if Stalkers are not aware of the weight limit and its penalties. So, what to do with PDAs? Here’s what players should know.

Where To Leave PDAs?

PDAs come in two types: information and Quest Related. The Information PDAs will automatically send the information to the players own PDA, which will be archived or showcased on the map in the case of Stashes locations. The Quest Related PDA will have a characteristic “brown tick,” on the upper left side, and can be considered a “critical item.” As such, Quest PDAs cannot be left behind, otherwise, they will lock down players from finding important items for Main and Sub Quests. For that reason, they have a “safeguard” system that prevents them from being lost, dropped/sold/deposited.

In the first case, PDAs which could be marked as “Disposable,” should be safely sold for coupons to traders like Hamster or Huron, or in case players don’t like the idea of giving away these collectibles, they can be safely stored in the Player’s Stash, which is located near Every Vendor in all Faction bases.

Keep in mind that PDA’s are “read automatically,” and added to the Notes section right next to the Journal Menu, but they can also be manually read when picked up to actually see the information these entries contain. Most of them have contextual information, but others might hold secret additional info like indications on how to access certain stashes, or how to find Artifacts and Hidden Weapons. It is up to players to go through every PDA in their inventory and figure out for themselves if they’re worth reading or not.

Can I Sell or Store Quest PDAs?

As mentioned before, there’s no way to store Quest PDAs, but, thankfully once players complete the related activity to that particular PDA, these will instantly disappear leaving an open space in the inventory and, of course, taking away all the extra weight with them. So, the best approach in the case of the Brown Tick PDAs is to complete the Quest to safely dispose of them, before they overweight our character.

On that note, Each PDA weighs exactly 0.2 Kg, meaning having 5 of them will add 1 extra Kg to the players’ inventory. In a game where weight can be tremendously punishing (more so if we are being chased by a swarm of angry mutants) that extra Kg. can mean the difference between life and death.
