- However, thanks to the hard work of some modders, the game can become more forgiving.
After more than a decade in development, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is finally here. It’s a massive testament to GSC Game World, who persevered through some incredibly turbulent times, including studio shutdowns and the real-life invasion of Ukraine.
Already, Stalker 2 has experienced some major success, with GSC reporting that a million copies have been sold. Many more gamers are playing via Game Pass, making the apocalyptic first-person shooter a resounding success.
That said, those who aren’t familiar with the Stalker series, which is a lot of us, are quickly finding the game isn’t your run-of-the-mill FPS. No. It’s a massively unforgiving world that requires players to constantly be on alert, manage their resources and pick their spots. In other words, it’s a difficult game, one that might be off-putting to those used to other titles in the genre, like Call of Duty.
However, thanks to the hard work of some modders, the game has become slightly easier. And it’ll only get easier as more community members jump in.

Mods Are A Godsend
Over on Nexus Mods, a website dedicated to hosting mods and community creations for dozens of games, there is no shortage of Stalker 2 mods specifically aimed at making the game far more forgiving.
For example, there is a mod for reducing the weight of items that’s been downloaded over 33,000 times. That mod can reduce the weight to 0 or a fraction of their base rate. Elsewhere, another mod dedicated to increasing sprint duration is also available. Meanwhile, another mod removes durability loss from weapons and outfits.
That is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what is available, as enemy health mods are also available, among other creations. Unfortunately, as is the case with most mods, these are currently locked to PC. The good news is that GSC has confirmed that console mod support will come sometime in the future, though a date has not been determined.
