Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 delivers the solid FPS action for which the series is known. Semtex is a great piece of lethal equipment. They stick to whatever surface they land on, including enemy players, and explode quickly. However, they have a tendency to flop down in place if one is killed in the middle of throwing one.

Frag Grenades travel if the player is killed when thrown, and they can often get an afterlife kill. Semtex should have the same luxury. Maybe it is meant to balance the fact that they detonate so quickly, but it still seems like a fair kill. Even if this one disadvantage is not fixed, Semtex remain a great lethal equipment that can net players a lot of kills if they use them right.

Semtex do not start cooking until they reach their target. This means players can throw them all the way across the map without worrying about them exploding in mid-air.

4 Old-School Mode

Make It Retro

With Black Ops 6’s increased game speed thanks to the addition of Omnimovement, the game feels even more old-school than Call of Duty games of the past. The smaller maps and high kill counts are reminiscent of the hectic action of playing TimeSplitters with ten bots on a tiny map. With this in mind, why not a completely Old School Mode to further indulge in retro FPS sensibilities?

As of 2024, Old School mode has only ever been in 2007’s Modern Warfare and the remaster from 2016. Not only would Old School mode just be fun to play, but it would also give players an opportunity to experiment with different weapons as well as gain experience with them before unlocking them in the level progression.

Players can still increase their weapon level outside of traditional multiplayer matches in the Zombies mode. This way, they can unlock some attachments before bringing them into matches.

3 More Ways To Earn Permanent Unlock Tokens

More Than Just Prestiging

When players prestige, they also unlock a permanent unlock token. With this, they permanently gain access to the weapon, equipment, or perk even when they prestige and are set back to level one. With only one per prestige, permanent unlocks are extremely valuable. It takes anywhere between ten and twenty hours to get just one.

There should be a way to earn a few more without devaluing them and making them too easy to get. 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 had a complex system of unlocking weapons that encouraged players to use different weapons enough to unlock other ones, so maybe something like that could go towards permanently unlocking weapons regardless of prestige.

When Zombies is good, it is a miracle that keeps on giving. Black Ops 6’s version of Zombies is finely balanced, offering a difficulty curve that challenges players without feeling unfair. The Easter eggs are easy to pull off once they are discovered so a run does not feel frustrating. Players who want more variety in their cooperative offerings might grow bored with Zombies after a little while.

It might not last them the whole year until the next Call of Duty comes along. Why not take a cue from prior Call of Duty games and bring back Spec-Ops with more objective-based goals instead of simply surviving waves of enemies? A survival mode with humanoid enemies who shoot back would also be a fun diversion if Zombies gets tiring.

1 Put More Older Maps Into The Rotation

It is good that Black Ops 6 has new maps, unlike last year’s Modern Warfare 3 which recycled the levels from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. Still, some love from the past would be much appreciated.
