Piccolo In Versus And Online Matches
In his original variation, Piccolo boasts some pretty basic stats, decent damage, and a low DP cost of four. Piccolo is best used aggressively in online matches by rushing the opponent and staying near them. This is mainly due to his skills and special abilities requiring him to be at close range to be effective.
Close the distance between you and your opponent. Use combo mixups and skills to keep pressure on the opponent to prevent them from charging Ki.
Paralyze Beam is a handy tool to shut down opponents playing too offensively or if they are playing too defensively. While the opponent is stunned, you can charge your Ki Gauge or go straight on the offensive. Be warned, as a perceptive player may notice you charging the skill and avoid it, leaving you open to punishment.
When Paralyze Beam is activated, Piccolo gains super armor and cannot be interrupted by basic attacks. However, he will still be able to receive damage from enemy attacks.
Piccolo’s special moves consist of one rush attack and two beam attacks, with one of them being his ultimate. While not the most powerful, his specials, minus the ultimate, have a low cost on your Ki Gauge.
Explosive Demon Wave is your go-to special move-to-end combos without completely draining your Ki. While low in cost, it does have a major downside in its range, being extremely short. Avoid launching the opponent away if you want to land the special, instead slam your opponent down into the ground to keep them in place.
If you launch the opponent away, an Explosive Breath Cannon or Special Beam Cannon is best used. Explosive Breath Cannon will chase after the opponent, quickly closing the distance and catching the opponent if they try to recover. Alternatively, if you are in Sparking Mode, Special Beam Cannon can be used against a launched opponent as the beam comes out quickly enough to catch them before they can recover.
Special Beam cannon will ricochet off the ground towards the opponent if fired at a downward angle.

Piccolo (Fused With Kami) In Versus And Online Matches
Between both variants of Piccolo, there aren’t many differences other than slight changes in the movesets and the slight damage increase with the Fused With Kami. Whilst the prior Piccolo variant had a more offensive and rush-based moveset, Fused With Kami is superior in range and a more counter-offensive playstyle.
This variation gains access to two skills that both prevent damage by either buffing your defense with False Courage or outright avoiding damage completely with Wild Sense. Wild Sense will avoid the next melee attack you receive by vanishing behind the opponent and counterattacking, putting you on the offensive.
Wild Sense can be activated preemptively and will activate on the next attack the opponent throws.
All of Piccolo’s special moves in this variant are beam/projectile-based and both cost the same amount of Ki to perform. The Special Beam Cannon is now a chargeable special attack that amplifies its damage the longer you hold the charge. This, however, is ill-advised as, more often than not, you will not be able to get the full charge off on aggressive opponents.
While Special Beam Cannon can be used after launching an opponent, there is a chance it may be missed if the opponent’s trajectory is altered. Light Grenade is a fast-moving projectile that will track the target after it is fired and a better alternative to use.
Hellzone Grenade works similarly to Light Grenade with the added benefit of increased damage and travel speed. To maximize your damage output, ending a combo while in Sparking Mode with Hellzone Grenade and buffing it by pressing the R2/RT will deal major damage.
