To many fans, this was absolutely huge. At the same time, in volume 28, JJK revealed comments about Higuruma that were eye-opening. Fans were made aware of the fact that he wasn’t like the average sorcerer, and had actual talent to rival the likes of Gojo and Sukuna in the future, which sets up great expectations for him, if JJk were to ever get a sequel in the form of a movie, a one-shot, or an actual sequel manga.

- Gojo, Sukuna, And Higuruma Are All Geniuses In Their Own Ways
- Higuruma Was Dubbed A Gojo Level Talent
When it comes to the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, there are quite a few geniuses who have, over the years, managed to rise to the top. When speaking of geniuses, one comes to mind before any other, and this person is none other than Gojo. The birth of Gojo was of such tremendous importance that the balance of the entire world shifted with it. For the first time in 400 years, someone was born with the power of both the Six Eyes and the Limitless cursed technique. Gojo was special in more ways than one, and there’s absolutely no denying that fact. It didn’t take Gojo long to gain mastery over his powers and rise to the very top, becoming the strongest modern sorcerer. He did so by completely mastering the Limitless technique, and inventing new ways to use this power innovatively.
For instance, Gojo created a method to keep Infinity of the Limitless always active, and resetting his cursed technique by destroying his own brain and then healing using reverse cursed technique. In many ways, Gojo was a prodigy. That said, Gojo’s talent was only brought out to the maximum because of his hard work. As was confirmed by Yuta in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, Gojo was a prodigy, but his cursed technique and all his other abilities required him to train relentlessly for many hours. In fact, in many ways, Gojo’s powers were harder to control than any other technique, and that just goes to show that Gojo is actually a blend of hard work and talent, just like the vast majority of geniuses across media.

Jujutsu Kaisen: The Next Six Eyes User After Gojo’s Death, Explained
Gojo’s death at the hands of Sukuna means a new Six Eyes user should be born.
Along with Gojo, Sukuna can also be considered to be a genius. Having consumed his brother in his mother’s womb, Sukuna was forced to survive right from the beginning, and the survival brought his talent out to the absolute maximum. Sukuna became the King of Curses, and an individual deemed to be the strongest sorcerer in history. He conquered the Heian era, and even in the modern era, Sukuna showed that he was second to none. Talents on the same level as the likes of Gojo and Sukuna don’t come often, but they do come by every once in a while, and that is what happened with Hiromi Higuruma.
Upon the introduction of Higuruma, it was clear to the fans that this talent was going to go far in the world of JJK. Upon his introduction, fans knew he was special, and he continued to steal the spotlight from even the protagonist itself, which was absolutely staggering for the fans to see. In many ways, it can be said that Gege wrote him to be a protagonist, but was forced to put him on the sidelines, simply due to Yuji being the main character instead.
How Gege Made Higuruma A Genius
Sukuna Praised Higuruma And Acknowledged His Talent
Gege did not waste any time in pointing out to the fans that Higuruma was destined to be a Gojo-level talent. In fact, he clearly stated in the Shinjuku Showdown arc that Higuruma was destined to be a talent on the same level as Gojo and that if he were to ever fulfill his potential, he would be just as strong. In around two months after he gained his powers, Higuruma was able to create a domain expansion, learn barrier techniques, gain access to reverse cursed technique, learn domain amplification, and utilize cursed technique in a way that only the likes of Sukuna can do. Higuruma’s control of switching between cursed technique and domain amplification was such that Sukuna was surprised by it and considered it to be comparable to his own. In fact, much to the surprise of many fans, he even managed to walk in the air using cursed energy, something that only the likes of Sukuna have managed to do over the years. Here is what Gege had to say about this:
I really wanted strong sorcerers to have a means of aerial mobility (like a double jump). So, I revealed in the Sakurajima Colony arc that aside from using their CT like Gojo, there’s also the method of ‘grasping the surface of the air’ like Maki and Toji.
Sukuna has been using this ‘grasping the surface of the air’ method of movement (look for it!), and he moves faster through the air than Maki or Toji by briefly releasing cursed energy in a small explosion when he grasps the air’s surface. (Still, air surfaces aren’t everywhere and are fluid, so his route is limited.)
Moreover, this ‘technique of applying cursed energy to the surface of the air’ was also being used by Higuruma when he was ringing the gavel, and he was on the verge of mastering the double jump. I planned to tie this setting into depicting how much hidden talent Higuruma has as a sorcerer. – Gege Akutami
As is clear from Gege’s words, Higuruma was meant to be special, and this is evident from the fact that he even had him earn praise from Sukuna, which isn’t common at all. He made sure that he drew comparisons to Gojo when creating this character, and all that is to say that Higuruma is truly a masterful sorcerer who will likely go on to become the strongest in the future.
Higuruma’s control over cast energy is greater than that of Utah and Even the protagonist of the series, Yuji. Right now, he is the biggest genius in the series, and he will continue to grow if the series continues. What Higuruma could do in a short span of time essentially makes him out to be a true Gojo-level gem. As he continues to grow in JJK, he will reach even higher levels, and when he matures, he will be a threat as strong as Gojo, undoubtedly.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
