While there is no official release date set in stone, Gears of War: E-Day is one of the most anticipated games at the moment. The long-awaited glimpse of the fateful moment that set the events of the franchise into motion has made many eager for more Gears of War: E-Day news. Getting to see such a huge event in Gears of War‘s lore through the eyes of Marcus and Dom has been a dream for many longtime fans, and it’s finally happening.

Setting the Stage For the Franchise’s Most Defining Moment

Emergence Day, or E-Day, is the day that the Locust Horde makes itself known to the people of Sera. Before this tragedy, the world was somewhat in a peaceful state. Although much of Gears of War: E-Day‘s story is unknown, there are a few things that are confirmed.


  • Marcus and Dom are the main characters, with the former being the playable lead
  • E-Day takes place six weeks after the end of the Pendulum Wars
  • Serves as an “origin story” for Marcus and Dom’s friendship

While it’s believed that Gears of War: E-Day will begin on the fateful day, it may be a stronger move to at least give players time to settle into life on Sera, as it could potentially provide a more powerful introduction to the event. Although there is likely going to be an action-packed experience ahead, which is great, getting to see the contrast between a calm and seemingly unaware Sera and the abrupt arrival of the Locust Horde could be heart-pounding. Getting at least a small glimpse of Marcus and Dom living their lives like any other normal day, then being thrust into the most harrowing situation they’ve faced, might pack a greater emotional punch.

Gears of War has a reputation for being an emotional roller coaster anyway, so a peek into a happier way of life on Sera before the world is reduced to ash makes sense for the series to do.
