The list covers some of the best mods for Wizards that interested players will surely appreciate.
8 Wands and Weave: Wizard Equipment
Downloads: 2,600
One aspect of the Wizard toolkit that rarely gets attention in the modding community is the actual clothes, headwear, and accessories Wizards wear. Most mods aim to improve Wizard gameplay and focus on either adding more spells or more subclasses with unique abilities.
Wands and Weave: Wizard Equipment adds 30 items in total, 10 in each act, all distributed organically throughout the world. None of the items are too overpowered, but aim to give Wizards new options to round out their builds. It’s a mod to add variety, not to break the game.
7 Wizard Subclasses Combined – No Spell Prep
Downloads: 7,396
For players who aren’t too hung about balance and just want to have fun, Wizard Subclasses Combined – No Spell Prep is the perfect addition to the load order. The mod basically merges all Wizards subclasses into the Divination Subclass, giving this particular subclass every option its counterparts have in one complete package. No need to choose between the offensive capabilities of Evocation, the undeath inclination of Necromancy, or the defensive prowess of Abjuration.
With this mod, every Wizard who picks Divination will gain all subclass-specific passive and active features. Best of all, Wizards do need to prepare specific spells before being able to cast them; their entire spell list becomes available to them at all times, just like the Sorcerer. Combined with the Wizard’s ability to learn from scrolls, it means that with enough preparation, players can have the ultimate master of the arcane in their party. Gale’s lore may finally be reflected in actual gameplay.
6 Wizard Unleashed – Master of the Arcane Arts

The Unleashed is a series of mods by Mharius, with the purpose of increasing the effectiveness of all classes in Baldur’s Gate 3, especially at the early levels when the tools available to players are the most limited.

5 Homebrew Spells
Downloads: 165,796
Homebrew Spells is a mod that adds roughly 40 new spells to Baldur’s Gate 3, all of them inspired by a very specific set of Homebrew setups detailed on the mod’s description page. Most of these new spells are cantrips and level 1 spells, but there are a few 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th-level spells as well.
The Cantrip selection is especially useful in the early game, as it gives a lot more options to low-level spellcasters and half-casters to cover their weaknesses. A good majority of the new additions are elemental spells with unique AoE effects, which give Wizards some great Fireball alternatives that deal area damage, especially when upcast with a higher-level spell slot. Homebrew Spells is meant to work alongside the famous 5e Spells mod, as they’re both created by the same mod author.
4 SpellbladeSchool
Downloads: 292,618
Wizards in Baldur’s Gate 3 are almost exclusively ranged DPS/control characters who use spellfire from afar to rain down hell on their enemies. SpellbladeSchool adds a new subclass, Spellblade, to the Wizard class, giving the masters of the arcane a way to deal with their problems up close and personal.
The Spellblade subclass gains proficiency in Light Armor and finesse weapons, the ability to make Attacks of Opportunity with Advantage, and enchant weapons with a +3 to Attack and Damage Rolls, making melee the domain of the Wizard.
3 Valkrana’s Spellbook – 12 New Necromancy Spells
Downloads: 322,883
Valkrana’s Spellbook adds 12 brand new Necromancy spells to Baldur’s Gate 3, addressing the lack of such spells in the base game. There are two spells each for all six levels of spellcasting, from 1st-level all the way to 6th level.

Those looking to add more Dungeons and Dragons content to their Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough are likely to enjoy what these mods have to offer.
The effects of these Necromancy spells range from raising weak skeletons in large numbers to infusing an allied creature with permanent Undeath to becoming the Bone Emporer himself. The spells are balanced around the game, and none are more powerful than their base game counterparts. Instead, they provide an alternate way to approach combat encounters.
2 Mystra’s Spells
Downloads: 467,700
Mystra’s Spells adds 130 completely new spells to Baldur’s Gate 3, adding to the game’s original spell list and expanding the spellbooks of all casters significantly, though Wizards are the biggest beneficiaries.
The new spells are taken by the D&D 5e ruleset but modified and adjusted to BG3’s internal framework and homebrew rules to avoid making them too broken or too weak in comparison to the existing spells. The mod author even plans to add 7th, 8th, and 9th-level spells to the game at a limited capacity, though it hasn’t been implemented yet.
1 5e Spells
Downloads: 3,287,173
5e Spells is one of the most crucial mods to add to the load order before starting a Wizard playthrough in Baldur’s Gate 3. The goal of 5e Spells is to add all unimplemented spells from Dungeons & Dragons 5e to BG3, giving spellcasters all the tools they could ever need to face the threats ahead.
The new spell additions are not just from the 1st to 6th level spells but go up to insanely powerful 9th level spells, spread out across the spell lists in accordance with the 5e ruleset, though to go beyond the 6th level requires separate mods that incorporate them into their framework.
