Assassin’s Creed’s Multiplayer Game Would Be The Perfect Companion to Infinity

Assassin’s Creed’s Multiplayer Game Would Be The Perfect Companion to Infinity

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is gearing up to introduce some massive changes to the way its future projects are delivered and accessed, with the IP following the growing industry trend of establishing a one-stop hub that will host essentially all future content for the series. This is set to be quite a bold move from Ubisoft towards one of its most successful franchises, with other massive gaming IPs recently adopting similar approaches to varying levels of success.

This hub is currently being labeled as Assassin’s Creed Infinity, with its aim being to house all future AC content in a single place while allowing Ubisoft to explore a wider range of shorter experiences for fans to access, alongside more large-scale titles like the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This imposing change to content delivery has been quite controversial for other franchises of similar sizes, meaning Infinity needs all the help it can get in terms of making its launch a smooth and exciting transition for long-term fans of the IP. Many of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed projects are reportedly tied to Infinity, and the confirmed multiplayer game for the series could be the perfect way to start off the Infinity era of Assassin’s Creed with a bang.

Assassin’s Creed’s Multiplayer Project Could Be the Attraction That Infinity Needs to Shine

Ubisoft announced a bold vision for the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise back in late 2022, with a huge spate of upcoming projects being confirmed to be in development. These projects included the extremely high-profile Japan-set Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as well as the mysterious Hexe and the Jade mobile game. While these confirmed titles all have their own unique perspectives for the franchise, the reveal of Assassin’s Creed Invictus was one of the most intriguing.

Invictus is the early codename for an ambitious multiplayer-only title for Assassin’s Creed, with essentially no solid details surfacing around what the title will entail since it was announced in 2022. Some early rumors even suggest that Invictus‘ gameplay will be greatly inspired by Fall Guys, painting a picture of a race against other players while using AC‘s iconic parkour and combat mechanics to get the better of the opposition.

Of course, Assassin’s Creed has had a successful history with multiplayer experiences, despite the single-player focus that most of the franchise possesses. The multiplayer modes of games like Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Revelations are considered iconic elements of the franchise’s history, meaning Invictus could equally be aiming to create an experience closer to these past games.

A Free-To-Play Invictus Could Be the Perfect Project to Promote Assassin’s Creed Infinity

Despite the uncertainty that currently exists around Invictus, there is still a lot of anticipation around the project, and Ubisoft could use this to its advantage to sweeten the launch of Infinity. Some reports suggest that Infinity may launch in 2025, and while this may be well before the launch of Invinctus, the new hub could at least market the fact that Invictus could be freely available through Infinity when it eventually releases.

Many multiplayer-focused modern titles adopt a live-service and free-to-play approach and, aside from the pros and cons that this brings, Invictus could also use this framework to offer a project through the Infinity hub that many fans may be interested in trying at the very least. When considering how controversial live-service hubs have been for the likes of Call of Duty, Ubisoft has a large task ahead of itself with Infinity, and Invictus could be the perfect bargaining chip to make the introduction of the service all the smoother.
