While its huge roster and expanded mechanics from Budokai Tenkaichi are great, there are a few small things that players have been less happy about, with the online play perhaps being the biggest.

Even if you’ve played the original Budokai Tenkaichi games, you aren’t prepared for how tough Sparking Zero’s story mode is.

Since Sparking Zero launched back in October, players have complained about how cheap and unfair the online experience can be, with certain characters like Yajirobe (who has since been nerfed) and Broly causing big problems for the meta. That isn’t helped by the fact that a lot of players choose to disconnect from a match when things aren’t going their way.

Over on Twitter, the official Dragon Ball Games account confirmed that timeout penalties are going to be increased for certain types of players.

Those players include quitters who choose to leave a match before it’s finished, as well as players who frequently disconnect from matches. The official Dragon Ball account says that this is being done to ensure that matches are “fair and enjoyable”, which a lot of fans would probably agree isn’t the case right now.

What this essentially means is that anyone who frequently leaves online matches, whether that be through quitting purposefully or disconnecting due to a poor connection, is going to have to wait a longer time to keep playing online. The specifics haven’t been confirmed yet, but it should at least make any players sitting through endless disconnects and early finishes a little happier.
