Mizkif Recreates South Park World of Warcraft Basement

Key Takeaways

  • Mizkif recreated the iconic World of Warcraft basement scene from South Park for WoW Classic’s Anniversary Realms launch.
  • WoW opened new Classic realms for its 20th anniversary, starting with Vanilla and The Burning Crusade.
  • Mizkif and OTK members celebrated with throwbacks and cosplay, despite some setbacks playing on Hardcore.

OTK co-founder Mizkif recreated the hilarious basement setup from the iconic South Park episode, “Make Love, Not Warcraft,” to celebrate the release of the World of Warcraft Classic Anniversary Realms. Alongside a few of his friends, Mizkif has been playing on the new World of Warcraft servers while also paying homage to the popular South Park scene.

On November 11, World of Warcraft opened fresh Classic realms to celebrate the MMO’s 20th anniversary. These mega-servers are a new start for the retro WoW realms, which will go through Vanilla and The Burning Crusade, just like the originals did in 2004, and the first run of Classic did in 2019.

To celebrate the new realms, OTK co-founder did a throwback of his own. When he went live, he and fellow Twitch streamers Simply, Bean, and Russel surprised viewers with a perfect recreation of the iconic basement scene from the South Park episode, “Make Love, Not Warcraft.” He even riffed off of the South Park episode’s speech from Cartman about grinding boars. That said, players should be aware that, in their excitement, Mizkif and his fellow LAN party attendees use some profanity.

Mizkif’s WoW Classic Anniversary Realms Setup

“Make Love, Not Warcraft” was the eighth episode of South Park season 10 that originally aired on October 4, 2006. The critically-acclaimed episode featured machinima footage from World of Warcraft itself, becoming the first of such works to earn an Emmy Award. Nearly 20 years later, “Make Love, Not Warcraft” is considered to be one of the best episodes of South Park by fans and critics alike, with World of Warcraft cosplayers and social media accounts referencing it. Hearthstone even added the Sword of a Thousand Truths in the United in Stormwind set, obtained by having seven Elwynn Boars die.

Unfortunately, Mizkif’s WoW Classic Fresh run has not gone too well so far. He and his fellow OnlyFangs guild members are playing on Hardcore, and he has already died twice within the first 24 hours. This has not deterred him, however. His third character has made it to the Wailing Caverns, so there is still hope for his adventure yet.

Mizkif wasn’t the only OTK member who celebrated the new World of Warcraft realms in a big way. Esfand literally got into character by dressing up as his Troll Shaman character, complete with bright blue body paint, a red wig, and chin and nose prosthetics. Needless to say, the streamers have ensured the launch of World of Warcraft’s 20th Anniversary Realms will be an event to remember.
