Luma Island: How To Fish

Luma Island: How To Fish

Fishing is a big part of Luma Island. Not only can you pick it as a profession, but catching fish and selling them in different shops is an excellent way to rack up a ton of profits in the game. You can even use it to cook and sell various dishes for a higher price. But, while the game’s tutorial section teaches you the basics of crafting, fishing isn’t covered at all.

Thankfully, Luma Island isn’t the most challenging farming sim out there, and fishing is fairly straightforward in the game. This guide has compiled everything you need to know about fishing in Luma Island.

To catch a fish in Luma Island, you first need a Fishing Rod and Bait. Thankfully, the game gives you your Fishing Rod for free after completing the Tutorial. You can further upgrade it using the Anvil in front of the Stonemason’s Shop. But for fishing, the base Fishing Rod is good enough.

For Bait, you’ll need the Bug Net, also unlocked after finishing the Tutorial. You’ll occasionally notice tiny caterpillars running around nearby. With your Bug Net equipped, run up to one and click the Left Mouse Button to catch it. Chopping fern bushes or grass can also spawn a caterpillar for you to catch.

Now that you’ve got both your Fishing Rod and Bait, go up to any of the ponds or water sources in the game where you’ll see a fish swimming. Select your Fishing Rod from your inventory and click the Left Mouse Button to select the Bait. As you approach the water source, you’ll see a prompt for casting the Fishing Rod.

Aim for the swimming fish, and after a second, you’ll start the fishing mini-game, where you’ll need to chase the fish with the bobber. If you manage to stay on top of the fish for a certain period, you’ll get the prompt to reel it in. Click the Left Mouse Button rapidly to catch the fish. After catching a fish, you can either sell it in any of the shops in town or use it to cook up delicious meals that you can sell for a much bigger profit.

You don’t necessarily need to aim at a fish to be able to catch one. You can also cast the Fishing Rod at any water source in the game for a chance to catch a fish.

Catching a fish isn’t the only thing you can do with a Fishing Rod. When you cast it at a water source, you’ll always find something, even if there isn’t a fish swimming there. Occasionally, you’ll find air bubbles on a pond or the sea. If you find some air bubbles, you can grab a Sunken Farm Treasure. But to do that, you’ll first need to craft a Copper Magnet and use it as Bait for your Fishing Rod.

You can craft five of them at a time using a Copper Bar at the Ore Smelter. The idea is the same as before. Find a water source with air bubbles and cast your Fishing Rod at the spot. Then, reel it in by clicking the Left Mouse Button.
