Inquisition Servers Are Back Online After Veilguard's Launch

Key Takeaways

  • Dragon Age: Inquisition’s servers are online.
  • This means we can once again import world states and use the golden nug.
  • BioWare knows that we want world state imports to be available offline, and has “discussed” the matter.

Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s servers are back online following an outage shortly after the launch of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This means that we can once again import our world states and see decisions from the previous two games reflected in Inquisition.

This also means that the golden nug is working again – a feature that lets you share collectables across all of your playthroughs. Since this relies on an internet connection to work, some players found that the golden nug had disappeared from their games, forcing them to unlock everything again if they started a new playthrough.

World State Imports Are Working In Dragon Age: Inquisition Again

And there are “discussions” about a permanent, offline fix for when servers are taken offline for good.

I just tested this myself, and true enough, I was able to import my world state over when starting a new save in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Previously, the only option we were presented with was the default world state, which would make a run of the entire series pretty jarring.

A community manager confirmed the fix in the original thread about the issue. They also have a slither of good news for those of us who are worried about the future of the servers, since they will be taken offline for good eventually. This comes after a forum user asked if the devs had considered making world state imports available offline.

“I have discussed that with them before,” says community manager, EA_Shepard. “One of the main issues there is resources on a 10 year old feature. Now one could be like – well just do this and that but that takes resources away from development, testing, patches, updates, new or existing IPs, launches etc.”

However, that doesn’t mean it isn’t being considered: “Personally, I think [it’s] a brilliant idea and would solve some issues but has it been discussed? Yes. What decisions studios make on their end is different. But, I can send it along to them again as more feedback on this issue.”

I keep trying to roleplay in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but my Rook feels the same as everyone else’s.

We’ll have to wait and see if this amounts to anything, but hopefully, we’ll have a solution by the time that Inquisition’s servers are inevitably taken offline for good. It’s a double-edged sword that The Veilguard will never have this problem, since this doesn’t use the Dragon Age Keep to import previous decisions. However, that is because we can only import three decisions, and they all come from the very end of Inquisition, leaving Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 behind.

dragon age inquisition

Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third in the popular action RPG series from BioWare, and serves as a sequel to the events of Dragon Age 2. You must travel the continent of Thedas in order to seal the ‘Breach’, a kind of portal that is sending demonic enemies into the world.
