Gran Turismo 7 recently received Update 1.54, which adds a fleet of new cars, new World Circuit events, PS5 Pro-related enhancements, wider support for GT Sophy AI, and bug fixes, among other things. The new update for Gran Turismo 7 is available right now for both PS5 and PS4 players.
Following another tease from developer Polyphony Digital’s CEO Kazunori Yamauchi, a fresh lineup of cars from brands, ranging from Ford to Porsche, has arrived in Gran Turismo 7. Interestingly, it turns out that the new additions were accurately guessed by the community, based on the obscure peek shared by Yamauchi last week. The new cars added to the game include everything from a flashy vintage sports car to a utilitarian off-roader.

Turn 10 Studios can level up the immersion in Forza Motorsport and send a shot across the bow of Gran Turismo 7 by adding one feature for PC players.
In Update 1.54, Gran Turismo 7 devs have introduced five new cars, namely Ford Escort RS Cosworth ’92, Mercedes-Benz W 196 R ’55, Porsche 911 Turbo S (992) ’20, Porsche Mission X ’23, and Suzuki Jimny Sierra JC ’18. While the Ford can be bought from the Used Cars Dealership, the Mercedes F1 racing car can be obtained from Legend Cars. Similarly, the two Porsche sports cars are available from Brand Central, along with Suzuki’s off-road vehicle. Besides contributing to the growing list of Gran Turismo 7 cars, devs have also included new joinees on the list of World Circuit events, with the Porsche Cup available at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Race of Turbo Sportscars taking place at Mount Panorama Circuit, and the Jimny Cup available at Grand Valley South.
Moreover, a Gran Turismo World Series Celebration Race has also been shipped in the new update, letting players go through the races that will also feature in the Grand Final at Gran Turismo World Series 2024 World Finals, the franchise’s annual esports tournament. As part of this, two different titles, the Manufacturers Cup and the Nations Cup, are up for contention. Each of these events offers 500,000 Gran Turismo credits, making it a whopping 1 million credits that are currently on the line.
There are also certain game improvements for those who want to play Gran Turismo 7 on the high-end PS5 Pro console. Among these enhancements are improved PSSR, ray-traced reflections, 8K resolution support, and an optimized VR Mode experience. Additionally, the GT Sophy AI is now compatible with Trial Mountain Circuit and Tokyo Expressway—East Clockwise as well.
Over the past few years, Polyphony Digital has regularly brought a good amount of new content to the 2022 racing title, including GT Sophy AI, PSVR2 upgrade, and more. However, not all of these updates have been a hit with fans. One update from earlier this year, Update 1.49, infamously interfered with the physics of Gran Turismo 7‘s AI cars, jeopardizing player experience. With another content drop out of the way, the Sony-owned studio will hope that the new changes and additions make fan opinion about the game stick to the positive side.
