Funko Fusion Update Adds Major New Feature

Key Takeaways

  • An online co-op mode has been launched for Steam users, coming soon for consoles.
  • A new DLC pack for Funko Fusion includes Invincible characters and alternate costumes.
  • Trap Jaw was added as a free playable character, and PlayStation Plus members get a free trial.

The developers of action-adventure game Funko Fusion have launched an online co-op mode for players on Steam, allowing PC users to jump into the fray together. While there’s still no online co-op for Funko Fusion‘s console players, that feature will be making its debut in the very near future.

Funko Fusion made its debut in September 2024, uniting more than 20 different pop culture intellectual properties ranging from hit movies like Shaun of the Dead and The Mummy to fast food restaurant KFC. There are currently nearly 80 different characters in Funko Fusion, all presented as animated Funko Pop! vinyl figurines.

Funko Fusion takes players on an exciting journey across multiple IPs; however, the way it tells its story may not be what players were expecting.

The online co-op mode was launched on November 21, 2024, for Steam users, and 10:10 Games states that the feature will be making its way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game sometime next week. The new mode will allow up to four players to team up and take on three of the seven main worlds in Funko Fusion Jurassic World, Hot Fuzz, and Battlestar Galactica — and the developers are working to make all Core and Cameo worlds compatible with co-op play in the future. Online co-op is being added to the game as a free update for all currently available platforms.

In addition to adding online co-op to the game, Funko Fusion also has a new DLC pack featuring two new characters from Amazon Prime Video’s animated series Invincible. At launch, Funko Fusion already featured the show’s main hero and villain-turned-hero, Invincible and Omni-Man, as well as a special stage set in the world of the superhero show. With the release of the new DLC, fellow superheroes Atom Eve and Rex Splode join the already hefty roster of living Funko figurines. Available for $9.99, the pack also includes an alternate costume for Atom Eve, based on her alternate universe version from Season 2 of the show, as well as Invincible’s blue suit. The pack also includes the Invincible cameo level that the developers showed off before the game’s launch.

Along with the new Funko Fusion DLC characters and costumes, 10:10 Games also released the new character Trap Jaw from Masters of the Universe on November 21, offering it for free to all current players. Additionally, PlayStation Plus Premium members who haven’t picked up the game now have a free two-hour trial session available for them. While Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 owners can’t play Funko Fusion yet, the game will debut on those platforms on December 6, 2024.

Funko Fusion November 21, 2024 Update Patch Notes

Hey everyone!

We know you’ve been patiently waiting for online co-op, and we can’t say thank you enough for the patience!

Online co-op is exiting beta and rolling out for all players in the main branch of the game and so we’re happy to say that online co-op is OUT NOW!.

With the launch of co-op, players can dive into three of the core worlds from Funko Fusion!

  • Jurassic World
  • Hot Fuzz
  • Battlestar Galactica

While we’re excited to bring you these worlds, we’re working hard to release the rest of the core and cameo worlds as well, which will be coming soon!

How to start a co-op game:

Find the multiplayer machine on any of the levels in the hub below the top floor. Note that to use this machine, you need to have completed the Tutorial and need to have finished at least one level in the game. Use the machine to start a multiplayer lobby.

How to invite friends:

We recommend inviting friends, or joining friends’ games, via the Steam friends list. Hover over a name in your friends list in Steam, then click the drop-down arrow to see “Invite to Game” or “Join Game”

When you are in the Multiplayer Lobby, you can also use the in-game system by walking up to 3 of the 4 purple Pop! Boxes and using them to view your Steam friends list to invite a friend.

With a controller: Navigate to your friends and invite them to the game. They will receive an invite via Steam and an icon will appear to show an invite has been sent..

With a mouse & keyboard: navigate to your friends and click on their names to invite them.

Exclusive Content:

In Online Co-Op, we’ve made the addition of Funkoins, a new currency exclusive to the co-op mode of Funko Fusion.

Funkoins can be collected in co-op, whether playing alone or with friends, and can be used to purchase brand new additional outfits for your roster of Funko Fusion characters!

Patch Notes:

  • Included in today’s update are some additional fixes for the game.
  • Fixed Red Proto Parts not spawning correctly in some instances.
  • Fixed a rare issue where players who switch characters could get stuck inside Pop! Boxes in Jurassic World.

  • Additional smaller bug fixes and polish across Worlds and Cameo levels.

New Characters:

WIth Co-Op exiting beta, we figured it’s a good time to celebrate with some additional characters!

Free for all players, and releasing today, Trap Jaw joins the Funko Fusion roster as a playable character!

Also as part of today’s drop, a new purchasable DLC, the Invincible Pack!
