Fortnite Double Pump Coming Back

The old days of Battle Royale are much missed, but one mechanic is probably the most legendary one in the community, the Fortnite Double Pump meta. An unintended system or using two shotguns in rapid succession, discovered by players and one of the ultimate clutch moves in original Fortnite days. Long since banned from the game, Epic’s just announced the Double Pump meta is coming back.

For a little while now, we’ve known Fortnite OG is returning as a permanent mode. However, Epic has been dropping the details gradually. Revealing them only week to week, to keep the hype building for the release. We’ve learned about the pass recently, and now the return of the Fortnite Double Pump meta. Something we didn’t expect to come back with OG.

The Fortnite Double Pump Meta is Coming Back

Fortnite OG is coming back as a separate mode that cycles gameplay around each month through the original Fortnite seasons. However, the last time we saw Fortnite OG it didn’t recreate every little detail of the original game, specifically, it cut the Double Pump.

Double Pump was a trick discovered quite early in Fortnite. A Pump shotgun does fantastic damage, but it is slow between shots. That’s the trade-off. You can use the lower accuracy, lower damage tac for its speed. Or the pump for its accuracy and damage but slow speed. The double pump gets around this. You can take a shot, then switch to your second pump and instantly take a second shot.

This wasn’t really an intended part of the game’s meta but it became quite popular. To combat it, Epic added a cooldown when you switch shotguns. No taking any shots for a set time, no more Double Pump. However, this is getting removed for Fortnite OG’s comeback. Once again players with cracked shotgun skills will be able to destroy enemies by devoting a second slot to a Pump in their loadout. If you’re looking at Fortnite betting for tournaments, the double pump coming back could completely change things.
