FFXIV’s Patch 7.1 delivered a lot for fans to enjoy.
We also know that it’s not a port of the game, but a completely new MMO which will recreate the original story of Final Fantasy 14. However, there will be certain elements that are different, but there’s not much information on that yet. Understandably, fans are a bit worried about the mobile platform and what it could mean for the MMO, but Yoshi-P has put their worries to rest.
There Will Be No Gacha Mechanics In Final Fantasy 14 Mobile
Since it’s a mobile game, fans were worried that their favourite MMO would be laden with gacha style monetization features. If the game is really a recreation of Final Fantasy 14, then there are a lot of avenues for the developers to add paywalls. Thankfully, Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida has confirmed that no such mechanics will be in the game.
“People have asked how will we monetize the FFXIV Mobile game,” said Yoshi-P in an interview translated by Aitai Japan’s Audrey (via GameRant). For example, some games are made with a gacha scheme so they can make as much money as possible. That’s not what we’re about.
With respect to the original FFXIV, we designed the mobile game with one thing in mind: exactly how long could a mobile user play this game? We want each single player to enjoy FFXIV as long as they can,” he continued. Therefore, our goal is to allow as many people play the game as much possible while only receiving just a bit of cash as monetization.
He asked fans not to worry about the monetization, and he’ll be happy with the fans just enjoying the game. However, while there will be no gacha mechanics, the last line suggests that there will be some sort of monetization system in the game once it launches. Of course, that’s to be expected, but hopefully, Lightspeed Studios and Square Enix will make sure it’s fair.
Square Enix’s popular MMO, Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, has players step into the role of the Warrior of Light in the world of Eorzea. There, they find themselves testing their mettle against Primals, the Garlean Empire, the Ascians, and plenty of other threats.
This award-winning MMO now has multiple expansions to its name, with the most recent Endwalker expansion bringing the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc to a close. Director and producer Yoshi-P has promised lots of plans for future content and the game has regular updates to keep players occupied.
