Bully Could Be Getting a New Update Soon

Bully Could Be Getting a New Update Soon

Key Takeaways

  • Rockstar Games may be patching the Steam version of Bully: Scholarship Edition, marking the first update to the game in 10 years.
  • The PC version of Bully suffers from frequent crashes, and Rockstar may finally be attempting to remedy this.
  • GTA Online’s PS5 and Xbox Series X/S features are scheduled to come to PC in early 2025.

A new rumor indicates that Rockstar Games could be patching the PC version of Bully. While unconfirmed, the rumor is excellent news for Bully fans, as the beloved game seems to have been all but forgotten by Rockstar for quite some time.

Originally released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2, Bully is often considered one of the best games Rockstar ever made, especially due to the novelty that its setting presented at the time. While other popular sandbox games created by the developer put the player in the shoes of criminals such as CJ or Tommy Vercetti, Bully offered a fresh experience by allowing gamers to become a high-school troublemaker named Jimmy.

Rockstar has penned a number of compelling narratives over the decades, but some of its iconic heroes are simply better than others.

Now, a Rockstar insider called Tez2 has spotted that the company recently added a new development branch to the Steam version of Bully: Scholarship Edition, which had not received any updates in over 10 years. The PC version of Bully is subpar, as it suffers from frequent crashes, and the changes spotted by Tez2 could indicate that Rockstar is finally trying to fix these annoying bugs. The most likely reason for this decision is to add the PC version of Bully to GTA+. A few months ago, Rockstar added Bully’s Scholarship Edition to GTA+, but this did not include the PC version, as only console and mobile ports are included in the service. However, Rockstar recently revealed that PC players will get access to the contents of GTA+ soon, which may be motivating these changes.

Bully Could Be Getting a New Update Ahead of GTA+ Support

This is not the only news regarding Bully to surface recently. Reports from August indicate that Bully has received multiple new age classifications in Taiwan. This could either indicate that Rockstar Games is currently working on a remastered version of Bully, or simply that the company decided to update the game’s age classifications as it is available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via the GTA+ subscription service. Considering that Rockstar often breathes new life into its games, however, a Bully remaster would not be unlikely.

In any case, a Bully remaster or an improved PC version without bugs is essentially what can be expected from Rockstar at the moment. The studio is currently focused on the upcoming release of GTA 6, and it’s unlikely that Bully 2 will be Rockstar’s next game after that. The Bully franchise hasn’t received any new games in around 18 years, and the Red Dead Redemption IP is still a massive hit, making it unlikely that fans can expect a new Bully game in the near future.
