Archery and Archrivals Walkthrough (Merida Level 4 Friendship Quest) In Disney Dreamlight Valley

Archery and Archrivals Walkthrough (Merida Level 4 Friendship Quest) In Disney Dreamlight Valley

Merida and Flynn Rider are two of several characters introduced in Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s The Storybook Vale expansion. While you might be excited to welcome them to the Valley after unlocking Merida and the well-known trickster, it seems Flynn knows how to ruffle a few feathers in the Vale, at least from Merida’s point of view. She isn’t happy with Flynn giving her some pointers on her archery skills and wants to teach him a lesson with a friendly archery competition in her ‘Archery and Archrivals’ level four Friendship Quest.

In addition to trying to sort the arguing pair out, completing Archery and Archrivals involves crafting and cooking, including making one of Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s cooking recipes in the Storybook Vale called Persimmon Sour Fondue.

How To Start Archery And Archrivals In Disney Dreamlight Valley

Starting Merida's Archery and Archrivals quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley

After completing Merida’s level two Friendship Quest called ‘Clan Dunbroch’s Rules of the Hunt,’ there are a few things to do to unlock Merida’s ‘Archery and Archrivals’ level four Friendship Quest, as follows:

  • Unlock Flynn Rider as a character.
  • Unlock the Wild Woods biome, which costs 2,000 Storybook Magic.
  • Level up your friendship with Merida to level four.

Once you’ve done the above, speak with Merida and choose the ‘Archery and Archrivals’ option to begin the quest.

Remove The Wanted Posters From Flynn’s House And Bring Them To Merida

Flynn Rider wanted posters in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The first objective is to talk to Flynn, who tells you Merida has put his wanted posters around his house after the pair argued. Worse still, the posters still can’t get his nose right. Remove all five posters from around Flynn’s house by interacting with them and speak with Merida, who suggests cooking a feast could help make amends.

Make Persimmon Sour Fondue

Use the Persimmon Sour Fondue recipe from Merida in your inventory to learn it. You must gather the ingredients below in The Bind to cook Persimmon Sour Fondue, a 2-star Disney Dreamlight Valley desert, as one of the Storybook Vale’s cooking recipes. To make Persimmon Sour Fondue, you need two of the following Storybook Vale fruit ingredients, which you can find on trees around The Bind:

You should also collect at least two of the above ingredients to cook two Persimmon Sour Fondues to tick off the objective. Once you’ve cooked them, speak with Merida inside her cottage and watch her and Flynn have an entertaining argument. Merida suggests a friendly archery competition could help resolve things once and for all.

Place The Archery Contest Signs Around The Bind And Gather Materials To Make The Archery Targets

Place the five archery contest signs anywhere you want around The Bind by accessing them from your Furniture menu. It’s now time to craft the archery targets, which you can make using the crafting table near your house once you find the following resources:

  • 20 Petrified Wood – by mining rocks and small rock nodes around The Bind and inside The Library of Lore.
  • Four Blue Tale Cone Flowers – a random spawn drop around The Bind.
  • Six Yellow Tale Cone Flowers – another random spawn around The Bind.
  • 16 Wheat – you can get plenty from Goofy’s stall in the Peaceful Meadow if you don’t already have some in your inventory.

It might take a little time for the Blue or Yellow Tale Cone Flowers to appear, but keep checking back, and they shouldn’t take too long to appear. Once you’ve crafted two archery targets, give them to Merida, who suggests holding the contest at the Fairy Trial location in the Wild Woods.

Meet Merida Inside The Wild Woods Fairy Tale Trial For The Archery Competiton

The final part of Archery and Archrivals happens inside the Fairy Tale Trial in the Wild Woods, where you unlock Flynn Rider in Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing quest. Head to the Fairy Trial inside the portal in the Wild Woods and speak with Merida to kick off the archery competition between her and Flynn. This part of the quest then involves several back-and-forth objectives between Merida, Flynn, and the archery targets as listed below:

  • Talk to Merida and Flynn in The Fairy Tale Trial, plus take a picture of Flynn next to the target after he shoots an arrow.
  • Investigate the archery targets to find Flynn’s Magnet and show it to Flynn – it turns out the roguish Villager is cheating and perhaps doesn’t shoot arrows so well after all.
  • Talk to Merida and retrieve her trick shot arrow from the archery targets – an arrow with three apples.
  • Show Merida’s trick shot arrow to Flynn and watch the pair chat to resolve their differences.

Ticking off all the objectives above completes the ‘Archery and Archrivals’ quest, where it seems Flynn and Merida are friends again. You can now return to exploring Storybook Vale or work towards Merida’s next Friendship quest, which you can begin at Friendship level 7 after unlocking Haydes and a few other Valley villagers.
