Dragon Quest 3 Remake has multiple classes to choose from that range in usefulness while in combat. While each class learns its own abilities and spells, all party members will need a weapon that can be used as a basic attack when they have no other options.
For the most part, weapons won’t change up the basic attack of a character, outside whips and boomerangs which allow you to attack multiple enemies instead of one. Finding and using a powerful melee weapon is key for some classes, and weapons such as the Iron Lance can be obtained without spending all your gold; here’s how to get it for free.

How To Get The Iron Lance For Free In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
The Iron Lance can be obtained for free by getting it through a monster drop when defeating an Antguzzler. Antguzzlers are blue variants of the anteater monster, found in either the Baharata Region or near Alltrades Abbey. These locations can be reached after completing the first main section of the game, after defeating Robbin’ ‘ood and returning the crown to the king. After that, you’ll be given permission to pass through the mine which takes you to the other section of the map previously unreachable.
While Antguzzlers are found throughout the Baharata region, they do appear slightly more frequently near Alltrades Abbey, which is a short walk north of Baharata. Defeating an Antguzzler also gives you:
- 278 Experience
- 13 Gold Coins
The drop rate of Iron Lances by these monsters isn’t great, but you should get one by defeating about seven to ten of them. If you’re just farming for this item, run whenever you face other enemies to help save time. These monsters also usually travel in groups, with each one having a chance of dropping an Iron Lance and further increasing your odds from a single fight.
Iron Lance Stats
The Iron Lance has 24 Attack, which is one of the better options that you can get at this point in the game, especially without spending money. While it is a spear, this weapon is wielded in only one hand so that character can still equip a shield and keep their defense high in combat. When you first arrive in this region of the game, it’s recommended you farm anyway to prepare for the next dungeon, and farming for this weapon only makes it more worth your time.
