- This move is expected to done in June 2025.
- Clash Mini was shutdown in April 2024 due to unmet expectations.
Clash Mini fans, here’s great news if you loved playing the game. Supercell has announced plans to evolve Clash Royale into a broader strategy gaming platform, starting with the addition of Clash Mini as a new game mode in June 2025.
Clash Mini added to Clash Royale is just the beginning of its expansion
Aleksandar Markovic, General Manager of Clash Royale, revealed at Roviocon Google 2024 that the game is being reimagined to provide players with innovative modes, including contributions from other Supercell teams or even external developers. The integration of Clash Mini is just the beginning, with plans to expand the game into a comprehensive strategy hub.
Markovic also highlighted the journey leading to this decision. After Clash Royale experienced a decline in engagement and revenue in 2022, the team shifted focus to introducing more gameplay content rather than overhauling systems. Features like Card Evolutions, which upgrades familiar characters with new abilities, helped re-engage players and significantly boosted the game’s performance in 2023.
Clash Mini was announced in 2021 when Supercell announced that the Clash World is expanding into 3 new games with Clash Quest and Clash Heroes being the other two. Following Clash Quest was stalled citing “high standards”, but the strategy board game Clash Mini was one of the three games in the pipeline for a 2024 launch alongside Squad Busters and mo.co.
However, it came as a shock as even Clash Mini also bid goodbye and shut down in late April 2024 citing “a good game but not the game that would ultimately fulfill our dream”. This also led to a huge community uproar against the decision, where many players were against it and requested Supercell reconsider their decision.
Now the curiosity lies in how the game might be implemented. It might be a simple addition similar to existing seasonal or challenge-based modes in Clash Royale or a Standalone Subgame where you can progress separately. No wrong marks for guessing, so we’ll need to wait and see how you play one of the favourite Supercell titles.
