Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has finally launched, which is quite a feat by itself, given the fact that GSC Game World was severely affected by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. However, the game has several performance issues, which is quite understandable, given the environment in which the studio has been working under.

Please Don’t Go Into Stalker 2 Expecting A New Fallout Game
Both games are first person shooters filled with radiation, and that’s where the comparisons stop.
The devs have already released a statement saying that they are committing to fixing these issues, and have even shared a plan of how they’ll go about it. However, it seems that there are already several player-made mods that seemingly fix the performance issues of the game. Given the series’ dedicated fanbase, that’s not very surprising.
Stalker 2 Already Has Several Performance Mods
As spotted by VG247, it seems Stalker fans have already gone about fixing the game by creating performance mods for it. While we haven’t tried them out personally yet, these few mods do have a bunch of endorsements against them. So, if you trust those, then go ahead and try them out.
Over on NexusMods, there are already 16 mods for Stalker 2, less than 24 hours since the game launched. They cover everything from adding a photo mode, to adding bullet time, and even removing the weapon degradation system from the game.
It seems that these performance issues were foreseen by some fans, who found something off with the PC requirements of the game.
If you’re not one for mods, GSC Game World’s official fix should be coming soon. The statement mentioned that it will first be working with hotfixes and rolling them out as frequently as possible. Larger updates will then follow, which will be aimed at overall improvement. There was also some word of free content, but we have no details on that yet – a roadmap will be shared later in December.
If you’re not willing to wait that long and want to play the game as soon as possible, you could try out one of those mods, but we recommend giving it a few days for more polished mods to make their way to the site.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the long-awaited follow-up to the apocalyptic first-person shooter. As a Stalker, you must venture into the deadly Exclusion Zone, contending with mutants and warring factions alike, in search of valuable artifacts.
