PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is a classic game that set the Battle Royale genre into high gear, with publishers such as Activision and EA getting in on the act and developing their own BR games, to rival the success PUBG saw after launching. And while PUBG does not have the largest file size or system requirements, as seen in the PUBG vs Warzone debate, it definitely needs a machine capable of running the game at decent graphics if you want a fighting chance of surviving.

PUBG file size
Over the years, the developers of PUBG has improved the game in the visual department, in order to bring it in line with the modern titles. Considering how many people play PUBG, and with the game having such a vast esports scene, especially on mobile, the game’s graphics and menus need to be optimized to run on most machines.
The storage requirements vary depending on the type of machine you have. For players on the lower end, i.e. the minimum settings, the storage size needed for PUBG is 40 GB. For players who are able to enjoy better graphics and higher frames per second, they will be looking at PUBG download size of about 50 GB. However, do bear in mind that it is recommended to have more storage space than the game size itself.

In a battle royale game, having solid frames per second on a consistent basis is far better than having the game look amazing, but the PC is performing worse than it should be because you’re trying to pump out more performance than the PC can handle. PUBG is a solid-looking game when you have the graphics turned all the way up, but realistically players need to find the sweet spot between visual appearance and performance. Some of the best PUBG players even have the video settings turned almost all the way down, in order to maximize their FPS.
Mainly, when it comes to render distance, if you’re unable to see a player that is further away, but they can see you, that is problematic as you will have to adjust your gameplay to work within a smaller window, as you can only take gun fights that are up close. Play around with the settings to the point that you have a good render distance, but also a consistent 60 frames per second, because what you don’t want to have is a game that struggles to keep up because it’s trying to render every little detail on the map. You also have to take into account you’re playing with 100 players, meaning the PC will again have to push out more performance because of the large number of players in the game.

Although PUBG is a 2017 game, it’s still on the demanding side in terms of system requirements to play it properly. Players need a decent graphics card and processor to enjoy smooth gameplay, especially on higher settings.
