After several years of the project being touch and go, Nintendo has finally updated the official Metroid Prime website and added Metroid Prime 4: Beyond with a scheduled release date in 2025. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was announced in 2017, but the surrounding details have been scarce in the last seven years.

Besides Metroid Prime Remastered, the Metroid Prime series has been mostly quiet, especially regarding new original titles. Back in 2023, Metroid Prime Remastered passed an impressive sales milestone, breathing new life into the series and reportedly making players very excited about its future. And luckily, it appears that fans received some more good news.

Nintendo fans are attempting to narrow down when Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and other games slated for 2025 will potentially release.

According to GameSpot, the updated page with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was first spotted by a Reddit user by the name of Vasishath, which quickly led other fans of the games to enter the website and analyze the exciting discovery. Under Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the updated page reads: “Embark on a new mission coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2025.” This is great news, as it confirms that the release window teased earlier by Nintendo is still on track. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is likely to be one of the last AAA games coming to the Nintendo Switch, as everything suggests that the console’s successor might also arrive in 2025.

Nintendo Adds Metroid Prime 4: Beyond to the Game’s Official Page

Metroid’s sub-series, Metroid Prime, has been around for more than 20 years, as the first installment of the current FPS trilogy was released back in 2002 for the GameCube and received a remaster in 2023. Many insider rumors indicate that a remaster for Metroid Prime 2 could also be in the works, but there’s no official confirmation about it yet.

Since it was first announced, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has received a few encouraging updates; however, the game has also had its fair share of bad news. In 2019, Nintendo said that the development of the game was being restarted by Retro Studios, the same studio that developed the original trilogy. And while keeping the same studio is a good thing, it also likely means that development was somewhat delayed.

The Metroid Prime universe is so beloved that even the smallest leak narrowing down Metroid Prime 4: Beyond‘s release date has been reason for excitement. While Nintendo updating the official website to include the upcoming title is great news for players, there are still few details surrounding what the story will be or what players should expect to see in it. At this point, all players can do is keep their fingers crossed and hope that the fourth installment of the series is as amazing as its three predecessors and that the release date is closer to early 2025, and not at the end of the year.
