However, you might have noticed that the basement section of the Detention Center is locked, preventing access to the artifact. How to Unlock the Detention Center’s Basement in Stalker 2

Players will visit the Detention Center during the mission “Answers Come At A Price” in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. After meeting up with Star and receiving a Silenced Pistol, players can go ahead and start exploring the building, even without completing the quest for now.

Here’s how players can unlock access to the basement in the Detention Center in Stalker 2.

  1. Enter the Detention Center’s building from the second doorway (east wing) located on the right side of the building.
  2. Go into the small office/reception and look inside the wooden desk to find the “Heavy Key.”
  3. Exit the office, head downstairs into the basement, and unlock the barred gate with the Heavy Key.


How to Get the Hypercube & Mother’s Beads Artifacts in Stalker 2

Once players enter the Detention Center’s basement in Stalker 2, they’ll encounter a maze filled with burner anomalies. You’ll have to carefully navigate through the anomalies to acquire the Hypercube and the Mother’s Beads artifacts. Here’s how to do it.

  1. Equip the Bolt and Artifact Detector.
  2. Throw the bolt in the direction of the burner anomaly to recognize its area of effect and make your way around it slowly.
  3. There’s a fire variant of the Poltergeist in one of the rooms, players need to find a safe spot to take it down quickly.
  4. Watch the beeping of the detector and hone in on the location of the artifact. The Hypercube will be in the adjacent room of the dead body. Players should loot the dead body for a key that will open a locked room in the Detention Center on the first floor near the cells.
  5. After getting the Hypercube, players must exit the basement of the Detention Center safely.


To get the Mother’s Beads artifact, you must visit the Detention Center’s basement at a later time, ideally after an Emission event. Applying the same strategy next time around will allow players to acquire the Mother’s Beads artifact in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
