How To Get The Tough Cookie Personalitiy In The Test In Dragon Quest 3 Remake

When you first begin your adventure in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, you’ll take a personality test to see what personality the hero will start with. Personalities determine what stats increase at what rates, making it very important to pick the right personality right away.

While you can change personalities later, it’s easy to get the personality you want through the personality test if you know what to do. The Tough Cookie personality is one of the better options if you can’t get Vamp; here’s how to get it.

The Tough Cookie personality is earned through the boulder-pushing test, and to get to that you’ll need to answer the starting questions as such:

Question

Answer

Do you believe that the sun in the sky above is the king of all nature….?

Yes

Do you dream often…?

No

Do you prefer spells and sorcery to swords and sweat…?

No

Do you find the company of unfamiliar people tiresome…?

No

Are you able to prevent failure from preying upon your mind…?

No

Is your circle of acquaintances wide and varied…?

Yes

Do you pay much heed to the gossip of others…?

Yes

Do you believe the world to be filled more with sadness than with joy…?

Yes

After answering the following questions you’ll be sent to a forest with an old man who will ask you to push a bolder back to him if you find one on your way out. You’ll now need to find the boulder and push it back to the old man 40 times. To do so, walk left as you’re leaving the forest and you’ll come across the boulder. Stand on the left side of it and run or walk into it to begin pushing it. Push it back to the old man and he will thank you and give you ten gold coins.

This is not real gold and does not transfer outside of the forest.

The boulder will keep reappearing once it is pushed to the old man, so you’ll just need to go back and forth until he finally tells you that you’ve given him 40. After the 40th boulder, it will stop respawning, so you can skip the dialogue and keep running back and forth to speed up the process. After giving the old man all 40 boulders, keep running left to leave the forest and get the Tough Cookie Personality.

At the time of writing the only way to switch to the Tough Cookie personality later on is by equipping the Weightlifters Belt, which is the reward for turning in 35 Mini Medals. Those with the Tough Cookie Personality will see Strength & Resilience increase extremely fast, while Luck increases slowly.
