Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Possibly Teases More Content

Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most replayable games ever made. There are at least five ways to replay it, not counting specific builds. First is the blind playthrough, where you go in without knowing anything about the game. Next is the redemption run, where you fix the mistakes of your past, then is evil Durge, followed by redeemed Durge, and finally playing as one of the companions.

One Year Later And Baldur’s Gate 3 Is Still The Biggest Game In The World

Larian’s masterpiece is going to stick around for a very long time.

However, the game got more replayable after mod support was introduced to it. It became so popular that more people are playing Baldur’s Gate 3 this year than in the year it launched. The game was already nigh unstoppable, and now it’s a force of nature. In the wake of this achievement, it seems we might be getting a bit more of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Is Larian Really Done With Baldur’s Gate 3?

Larian has previously stated that it’s done with Baldur’s Gate 3, and besides maintenance, it won’t be adding any more content to the game. However, it seems there actually might be something on the horizon for Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian Studios director of publishing Michael Douse, who also shared the 2024 player count, put up a very cryptic tweet.

Fans Need To Let Larian Move On From Baldur’s Gate 3

It’s not a live service game.

Retweeting a PC Gamer article about the rising player count, Douse simply said “A pleasant surprise. And we’re not quite done yet.” Obviously, we don’t want to jump the gun and assume that Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting a DLC, but it’s tough to think of what else it could mean. Larian already added an epilogue and mod support to the game, so what else could be in store?

Perhaps the game will get minor updates that don’t really add to the overall story, but feature some gameplay changes. We’ve previously reported that Alfira could become a temporary companion, but nothing has come of that yet. Maybe we’ll get a “what they’re up to no” end-credit sequence like early ’90 movies. That might give us some closure.

However, fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 have not been shy in asking for what they want. Among the most requested additions to the game is a DLC about Karlach’s journey through Avernus on her mission to repair her Infernal Engine heart. It’s highly unlikely we’ll see anything like that, but one can always hope.
