Assassin's Creed Shadows Will Seemingly Bring Back Classic Viewpoints

Key Takeaways

  • Information about the delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming out quicker than ever.
  • After previously detailing the Animus Hub, along with stealth, new information suggesting classic Viewpoint Synchronization will be back.
  • Viewpoints in recent games have been less cinematic, and if a Steam store GIF is anything to go by, then that will change with Shadows.

Delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will Unlikely Save It From Its Fate

Despite Ubisoft’s supposedly best intentions with delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it may not be enough to rescue it from its likely result.

In the past week or so, Ubisoft outlined that Shadows’ Animus Hub will be entirely free for players to experience. That means no paid Battle Pass or Season Pass, and missions will be free at no added cost. Then, an entire stealth overview was shared on Reddit by Ubisoft, including details about Eagle Vision, stealth tools and gameplay elements.

Now, via some sleuthy Assassin’s Creed fans, it appears that classic Viewpoint Synchronization will be back when Shadows is released next year.

The Sweeping Camera Is Everything

On Shadows’ Steam store page, under the tidbit of “Make Information Your Weapon,” a GIF of Naoe climbing a viewpoint is embedded. Normally, that isn’t a cause for concern, however, the GIF appears to showcase what happens when you sync with that viewpoint, and it is eerily similar to that of the original AC titles.

That’s not to say that Viewpoints haven’t been a thing in current-generation AC titles, but compared to what Ubisoft originally put out, the synchronization cinematic is way less dynamic. This video shows the evolution of the feature, with the games becoming less and less engrossing.

Of course, until the game is in the public’s hands, it’s hard to say if this is an official return to classic synchronization. That said, based off the GIF, which isn’t much, to be fair, it does look like Shadows is borrowing a page from older games when it comes to the dynamic cinematic. That, coupled with the changes to stealth, should give classic fans even more reasons to check out Shadows. And if not, well, Syndicate just received a 60fps patch.
