Since its initial launch all the way back in 2017, Fortnite has become one of the most popular video games ever made, averaging over 1 million active players per day. The game’s free-to-play Battle Royale mode put it on the map back in the day, but it’s the consistent flow of seasonal content that’s kept fans coming back year after year, and major expansions that have helped to bring in new players — expansions like LEGO Fortnite.
LEGO Fortnite had a huge impact upon its launch last year, with it managing to pull in 2.4 million players on day one, essentially tripling the number of players in the beloved Battle Royale mode. While that initial wave of excitement has obviously worn off, LEGO Fortnite is still incredibly popular, and it seems likely that developer Epic Games would want to celebrate the mode’s continued success on December 7.

LEGO Fortnite Could Receive a Major Update on December 7
LEGO Fortnite Has Received Plenty of Updates This Past Year
Since its debut on December 7, 2023, LEGO Fortnite has received around 10 major updates that have brought a wealth of new content to the mode. The first major LEGO Fortnite update came in January 2024, when launch pads were added to the mode alongside some new villagers, improved chest rewards, and a plethora of quality-of-life improvements such as more reliable building on slopes.
February 2024 brought two big updates to LEGO Fortnite, adding new weapons to the game like the hunting dagger, adding 13 new LEGO Style outfits, and adding fishing mechanics. March introduced vehicles to LEGO Fortnite, April added farming mechanics and animals, and May brought the first major LEGO Fortnite crossover, bringing a wealth of Star Wars-themed content to the game, like lightsabers, blasters, and a buildable Rebel village.
The last few months have seen even more important additions and tweaks come to LEGO Fortnite, such as new Cozy and Expert modes, the ability to fast travel, and even an expedition to a completely new environment called the Lost Isles. The latest LEGO Fortnite update landed last month, bringing with it a long-awaited split-screen mode and a treasure trove of Halloween-themed buildings, objects, and cosmetics.
The consistency of LEGO Fortnite‘s updates over the past year goes a long way in showing just how much faith Epic Games has in the mode. These updates show no signs of stopping anytime soon.
LEGO Fortnite Could Get an Update for Its Birthday
As detailed above, LEGO Fortnite has continued to receive a steady stream of updates throughout the year, several of which have tied into seasonal events like Star Wars Day and Halloween. It would make a lot of sense, then, for LEGO Fortnite to receive some kind of content drop to celebrate its one-year anniversary on December 7.
Birthday events are a regular occurrence in Fortnite‘s Battle Royale mode, often giving players a handful of unique quests to complete to earn exclusive birthday-themed cosmetics. So, it would make sense for the same to happen with LEGO Fortnite‘s upcoming birthday. Though nothing has been officially confirmed yet, fans can probably expect to see some new structures or cosmetics released to coincide with LEGO Fortnite‘s one-year anniversary in December, perhaps alongside some holiday-themed items.
