Recently, leaks have surfaced about various upcoming events, leaving players questioning as to what exactly they will bring to the game.

Most TCG Pocket events bring new cards with them, and based on some recently leaked cards that are believed to be coming, a few new events seem to be on the roadmap for Pokemon TCG Pocket’s upcoming months. So far, three different types of events have happened in the time the game has been available. Competitive battle events task players with pitting their decks against other players, rewarding them with profile emblems based on how many opponents they’ve defeated. Single-player battle events give players a chance to fight against increasingly difficult versions of one deck, and often give players special promo card packs, among other rewards. There are also non-battle events, such as the wonder pick events, which give players frequent chances to gain special promo cards via wonder picks. The next wonder pick event is believed to focus on Bulbasaur and Magnemite, ensuring that players have plenty of chances to add these cards to their collection.


What Upcoming Events Mean for Pocket TCG

A Wonder Pick event themed around Bulbasaur and Magnemite looks to be on the way, beginning on December 6. Much like the recent Chansey and Meowth event, players will most likely be able to collect new versions of the Bulbasaur and Magnemite cards via special wonder picks. The previous event also added several cosmetic options themed around Meowth that could be purchased in the event shop. Likewise, it is believed that the Bulbasaur and Magnemite event may include special cosmetics, such as coins or playmats, based on Venusaur. With a Venusaur Ex event believed to slightly overlap the Bulbasaur event, this starter Pokemon’s spotlight would provide players with an excellent base to create a powerful Venusaur EX deck complete with cosmetic theming.


The important thing to note about promo cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket is that, so far, they haven’t had any functional difference from the basic card for the same Pokemon. Possessing the same HP and attacks as the regular cards, the differences in the promo versions are in their art. These cards feature alternate art and are also stamped with a special logo indicating them as promos rather than cards obtained from a standard pack. Another distinction is that these promos are only available for a limited time, which will probably increase their value on the planned trade market once trading is added. Participating in promo events won’t give players any edge in battle, but it may provide them with valuable limited Pokemon TCG Pocket resources that they can use to trade for more powerful cards.
