Being a Helldiver is a tough job. On any given day, you could get blasted by a Dreadnought, melted by a Bile Titan, or crushed by your own Hellpod. The only rest you get is when you’re in cryo-sleep on the way to the next planet. So, it’s important to celebrate every occasion that comes your way, as mandated by Super Earth high command, of course.

So, when one Helldivers 2 player decided to get married, they decided to send developer Arrowhead an invitation. After all, what better way to celebrate their special day than under the eye of Liberty? While they probably sent the invite as a joke, they wouldn’t have expected Arrowhead to respond, least of all with a document by Super Earth approving their union.

Arrowhead’s response was touching, and as with all information about the game, perfectly in character, congratulating the couple on their “Joint Mission.
“We are writing to formally acknowledge and commend you both on the successful completion of Operation Matrimony,” said the letter, posted to Reddit by CPTScragglyBeard. “Your decision to merge forces and embark on this lifelong mission together demonstrates a high level of strategic planning and operational commitment.
“This joint venture, combining two units into one, is a clear example of your readiness to tackle any mission that life may present,” it continued. “Your shared dedication to each other is an inspiration and sets a strong example for others to follow. Enclosed along with the letter was a certificate from Super Earth recognising the couple’s union, signed and stamped by none other than General Brasch. Imagine your favourite game congratulating you on your wedding, and in character too. While it would have been great if General Brasch could attend in person he was probably busy overlooking the war and trying to get a handle on the newly launched DSS.
Fans absolutely loved this gesture, and showed it in the comments. Some even joked about enclosing a C-01 Permit along with it which, in the Helldivers universe, needs to be filled and submitted to be granted permission for having a child.
