At some point when Rook and their team head to defeat the gods in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you must make an important decision that will decide the fate of one of your companions.
The decision is made during the Isle of Gods quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which is one of the main quests in the game. The choice Rook must make in that quest is not easy by any means and no amount of preparation can change the outcome.

The Following Article Contains Spoilers Regarding The Choices Made In Isle Of The Gods Quest In Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Who Should Lead The Distraction In Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
Before choosing Davrin or Harding, you must know that whoever is chosen will die. It doesn’t matter if players have completed all of their companions’ quests and made them Hero of the Veilguard, the character will sacrifice themselves later on when facing Ghilan’nain.
Should Harding Lead The Distraction In Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
Harding will succeed in leading the distraction but meets her end when players are facing Ghilan’nain. She will be missed dearly by the rest of the companions and will be unavailable for the rest of the gameplay. This means you won’t be able to add her to the team, use her newfound abilities, or talk with her after going back to the Lighthouse.
Naturally, if Rook is romancing Harding, then you obviously can’t pursue it anymore. Additionally, you must make crucial decisions later on involving your companions during the Last Gambit, and Harding fits many categories but will be unavailable. For the sake of the storytelling, you can choose Harding as a way for her to redeem herself for the time she couldn’t stop Solas at the beginning of the game, as this failure always haunted her thoughts.
Should Davrin Lead The Distraction In Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
Same as Harding, Davrin will buy players some time when facing Ghilan’nain by sacrificing himself. Also, if that isn’t bad enough, Assan will also sacrifice himself, so keep that in mind. As a warrior, Davrin is a DPS that deals decent damage with the correct equipment. So, choosing Davrin means you lose his abilities, can’t chat with him back at the Lighthouse, and can’t romance him either. Most importantly, Rook will lose Assan’s company, which means no more petting, playing, or hugging the griffon.
As Taash can fulfill Davrin’s role later on when sending companions to complete certain missions, players can choose Davrin if they prefer Harding. If you are interested in storytelling, you can choose Davrin and consider his sacrifice part of his heroic nature, as Davrin is a Grey Warden and a skilled monster hunter.
