Throughout Red Dead Redemption’s campaign, John Marston will find himself raising bounties for every crime he commits. Regardless of minor vandalism or an accidental trespass, NPCs will report the incident, forcing the protagonist onto the wanted list. To avoid getting into further trouble, players must complete bounty-hunting missions to clear up their names. This feature is unlocked after completing the Political Realities in the Armadillo mission.

Head to the nearby local Telegraph Office or train station to accept bounty-hunting gigs via wanted posters. The quickest way to locate them is by following the white skull on the map. On the other hand, the wanted target will appear as a red skull on the map. Capturing them will reduce John Matston’s bounty in Red Dead Redemption. This is also one of the best ways to earn money in the game.

Aside from bounty hunting, players can hand in the Pardon Letter to the Telegraph Office to get rid of John’s bounty. The item works like a consumable, and it can be primarily obtained by completing the gang hideout challenges that are scattered in various locations throughout the map.
