Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Genetic Apex Has Been Completed

While Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket may seem like a pale imitation of the real-world TCG, there’s still joy to be found in opening packs and collecting the game’s virtual cards. There’s no better evidence of this than the fact that the game is making almost $6.5 million a day, generating $100 million in its first 17.

The game’s first expansion, Genetic Apex, contains a whopping 286 cards to collect, including three golden Crown Rares, four immersive cards, and dozens more with stunning artwork.

For most, collecting all of these might seem like nothing more than a pipe dream, given that if you’re free-to-play, you can only open a couple of packs a day. However, one player, Reddit user Weens4Life, has completed the full set, sharing the steps they took to get there (and just how much it cost).

Unsurprisingly, Genetic Apex cost this player a ton of money to complete. They said that completing the base card dex cost them around $200 and that the set as a whole cost an eye-watering $1,500.

Along the way, they opened 1,741 packs, pulled three Crown Rares and 129 Slowpoke but didn’t manage to open a single one of the game’s fabled God Packs. They hit level 47 upon completion. Weens4Life shared that they also used Wonder Pick to help them complete their collection goal.

Following the completion of their goal, Weens4Life admitted they plan to continue playing the game as they enjoy battling daily. They did confirm, though, that they won’t be going as hardcore with future sets as they did this one, which probably isn’t a bad thing given the developers behind Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket shared that “we plan to add new booster packs by the end of the year.”

With ten days left until December, the game shows no sign of slowing down, as alongside the confirmation of new boosters, next month’s events and challenges have leaked, as well as the game’s premium pass card for the month, Mewtwo.
