Microsoft Flight Sim 2024's Steam User Score Plummets As Game's Servers Struggle

Just hours after its November 19 launch, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is experiencing a number of bugs and performance issues that have led to the game being review-bombed on Steam, where it currently sits at an “overwhelmingly negative” rating.

From missing aircraft to excessively long loading times, the issues in question have left the game nearly unplayable according to users airing their grievances with the game on Steam. Developer Asobo Studio has acknowledged the issues via a Twitter post, and the studio says it is currently working to rectify the issues as quickly as possible.

According to Asobo Studio, both the missing aircraft bug and the extremely long loading times are a result of server issues caused in part by the large number of players currently trying to access the game after its launch.

“With so many users initializing the sim concurrently, we have a large number of server requests,” the game’s developers said in a follow-up tweet. “We are working to help resolve the issues as soon as possible.”

Other than waiting for the game’s creators to rectify the issues, there isn’t much players can do to fix things. Asobo Studio did offer some advice for players experiencing loading issues, however.

“For users whose initial load is past 90% and no longer progressing, we recommend a reboot,” the studio said. “Otherwise, we advise waiting to allow the loading to proceed as normal.”

Asobo Studio hasn’t provided any estimates regarding how long it may take to resolve the game’s current issues, but the studio did request that players “stay tuned for further updates” on the situation.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 24 is the latest in a long list of games that were made using AI.

“We would have spent our entire lives and then some just marking up [the game’s] terrain, which is not really the core of the thing,” MS Flight Sim head Jorg Neumann said in a recent interview. “So it’s just a tool that helps us.”
