Captain America is getting a new, gladiator-themed look in Marvel Rivals in time for the game’s full launch. Developer NetEase Games has allowed players to take its upcoming multiplayer hero shooter for a few test runs throughout the year, and soon it will be time for fans to step into the arena of Marvel Rivals full-time. The game is set to launch in full on December 6, nearly four months removed from the Marvel Rivals closed beta back in the summer.

Since that successful test period, the developers behind Marvel Rivals have shown off more of the 27 confirmed playable characters that gamers will be able to control, including the ever-patriotic Captain America. Steve Rogers was a relatively late confirmation to the Marvel Rivals launch roster, only being officially revealed alongside his friend/enemy Bucky “The Winter Solider” Barnes during the same Gamescom 2024 livestream that confirmed the game’s December release date.

Now that this release date is drawing nearer, Marvel Rivals has confirmed a new character skin for Captain America that is a stark departure from the hero’s usual standard red-white-and-blue attire. According to a post on the official Marvel Rivals Twitter page, a “Gladiator Captain America” skin will be available when Marvel Rivals launches on December 6. This outfit was inspired by the medieval-style outfit Steve wore in the 2015 limited series Planet Hulk, and was also available as an alternate outfit for Captain America in Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite and the defunct Marvel’s Avengers.
