Borksen Gets Kidnapped

  • Togashi Skips How She Was Kidnapped
  • Halkenburg’s Funeral Processions are Underway

Hunter x Hunter chapter 407 starts off by showcasing the start of the funeral procession of Ninth Prince Halkenburg, whose body has died, but his mind is still alive in the body of Might, one of Prince Benjamin’s bodyguards. The funeral procession has attracted many people, which seems to be the perfect spot for trouble to occur. All of this unfolds on the 12th day of the trip on the Black Whale, at 1 PM.

The chapter then pans out to the personal army of 4th Prince Tserriednich. These characters haven’t been seen in a while, but it was stated quite a few chapters ago that one of them would get kidnapped. Dogman and Sodom did kidnap one of them, but how that unfolded was skipped over by Togashi.

The personal army realizes in this chapter that one of them is missing, and the one who was kidnapped was none other than Borksen. Her fellow army men have no idea where she is or who kidnapped her. They theorize a large number of people might’ve gotten to her, or perhaps someone she knew lured her into a trap, or even that she was controlled by a Nen ability. Otocin believes she might have been kidnapped by the Heil-Ly so that she would be used to assassinate 4th Prince Tserriednich. It is safe to say that Otocin was definitely right about the Heil-Ly part, at the very least.

In case one of them gets kidnapped, Borksen had stipulated that there should be no negotiations and no rescues to help the victim. For now, fans will have to wait and see what actions this group decides to take when it comes to one of their comrades being kidnapped. They will either go into action before the end of the funeral procession on this tier, or do nothing.

Borksen is Greeted by Morena

Borksen Waked Up in the Heil-Ly Hideout

In HxH 407, Borksen opens her eyes to be greeted by the head of the Heil-Ly mafia family, Morena Prudo. Morena is a character that fans should definitely keep an eye on, as her importance and role in this arc will only grow.

The reason why Morena kidnapped Borksen is to have her join the Heil-Ly. Borksen can’t use Nen currently. However, Morena has the ability to awaken Nen in her. This essentially implies that Borksen could have the potential to unlock a Nen ability that is very useful for Morena’s plans.

Chrollo’s death is to be expected this HxH arc. Here are the clues left behind by Togashi.

Borksen can’t escape her current situation by conventional means. As things stand, she is surrounded by six members of the Heil-Ly, and cannot use Nen as of now. On top of that, her weapon was confiscated. Morena has different ideas when it comes to how to negotiate or force Borksen into the Heil-Ly, and it doesn’t include a violent fight.

Let’s decide… with a negotiation game. — Morena Prudo

Morena proposes to play a card game that will conclude their negotiations depending on how Borksen plays her cards.

A Card Game For Negotiations

Togashi Invents a Compelling Card Game To Do Morena’s Negotiation

Morena wants to negotiate with Borksen, not by normal means, but via a game of cards. This card game could very well be one of the Heil-Ly members’ nen ability, but that is to be seen. Morena goes on to explain the specific details of this card game, which did feel like it was a lot of information to take in at first.

To start off, if Borksen withdraws from the game after starting it, she will lose the ability to say anything other than yes or no. Morena will play as the parent, who has 7 cards face up on the table, while Borksen will play as the child, with 5 cards face down. Borksen will pick one of Morena’s cards, and Morena will have to answer her based on what she picked. Morena is supposed to pick one of Borksen’s cards, but Borksen requests to pick herself the cards on her side as well, which Morena agrees to. The last remaining card of Borksen at the end of the game is her answer to the negotiations.

The obvious cards on Borksen’s side are as follows:

• A yes card

• A no card

She also has some cards that need more explanation. For instance, the “Return Card” allows her to return one card from the graveyard. If that’s her last card, she can revive any card she wishes for her answer.

She also has the “Joker” card. This card turns into a yes or a no, based on what Borksen wants.

Then finally, there’s the “X” card. If that’s her last card, she doesn’t have to make a choice. It’s neither a yes or a no. If she ends with this, she voids the game and she can leave the hideout, and the Heil-Ly won’t bother her further.

But “no” is actually not different from “yes.” It pretends to be my friend, but “no” will bear its fangs as soon as the game begins! It depends on the explanations… of the “yes” and “no” cards!! — Borksen

Now, moving on to the parent’s cards, they are as follows. Morena possesses “Yes” and “No” cards as well. Morena also has the “Aim” card. With this card picked by Borksen, she can learn of Morena’s aim.

Morena also has the “Power” card. If this is chosen, Morena will have to explain her powers.

She also has the “Question A” card. This card allows Borksen to ask any questions she wants, besides her aim and power. She can only answer with yes, no, or yes and no. After that, she can pick “Question B” to ask more details about her last asked question in “Question A”.

Lastly, Morena has the “Deal” card. With this card, Borksen can get a card back from the graveyard by completing a small request from Morena.

While inquiring about the rules, Borksen also makes sure Morena does not cheat. Yes and No can mean the same answer sometimes, depending on how the person says it. “Yes, I have not” and “No, I have not” can be both used as responses to the same question. Morena will be answering the question from her own perspective, and won’t cheat. With that, fans can expect quite an interesting game to unfold in the next chapters.
