As The Sims 4 simulates life itself, you have to do the same for your Sim’s well-being. There are various types of grief added through Life and Death expansion, so you have to deal with them uniquely. We have created this detailed guide to assist you with that.

How Can You Move On From Grief In The Sims 4?

Grief is an intense form of emotion that happens after one misses a person in their life who has passed. Sims now feel the same range of emotions after their close one passes on to the next life. There are four types of grief in The Sims 4: Life and Death:

  • Denial
  • Holding It Together
  • Anger
  • Blues

How every Sim deals with death is unique, thus requiring different ways to deal with them. Here’s how you can cope with each emotion.

Denial Grief

When someone can’t accept the unfolding of situations, ending up in denial is natural. These Sims like to hide their emotions and act like everything is okay. While in this state, these sims end up being bored or feel fine. After a while, they are struck with reality and start grieving gravely.

Denial often leads to other types of grief like Blues or Anger. To avoid getting there and extending Sim’s grief, it is best to deal with it right after the loved one’s death. Here are some ways to heal this emotion:

  • Activities: Cooking, writing, gardening, or painting helps Sims to distract themselves. Playing music can also help them realize their true intentions and process their emotions.
  • Counseling: These Sims can attend grief counseling to recognize their habit of hiding pain. You can attend a session by interacting with your phone or clicking on a grieving Sim.

Holding It Together

Even while grieving, some Sims have the ability to compose themselves and continue on. Instead of being in Denial, these Sims accept one’s death and linger on good memories. While they keep a positive persona, on the inside these Sims are terribly hurt. They still try to avoid grief, which holds them back from healing.

The best part of ending up like this is that Sims will realize the loss and try to accept it. To improve their chances of moving on, try attending counseling. Avoiding doing so might end in Anger or Blues. So it is suggested to deal with the emotions immediately.

Anger Grief

Anger is incredibly raw and the strongest emotion in any living being. A Sim is often struck by Anger Grief when they feel the loved one’s death was unjust. Thus, letting out their frustration on others. These Sims are susceptible to periodic outbursts and sometimes act mean to others for no reason.

Anger is usually solvable through physical interactions. A few ways to deal with the anger are as follows:

  • Attending counseling: There are help groups in Sims 4 that can be attended. You can use your phone or click on a grieving Sim to attend one.
  • Working out at gyms or home: Physical activities allow your sim to deal with this emotion without harming anyone.
  • Playing music: You make your Sim transfer their anger through music, and help them manage their anger.

Blues Grief

If a Sim has enough connection with one passing, they will end up missing them more than others. The lingering sadness turns sour and makes these Sims generally depressed. Like everyone else, these Sims are more likely to be expressive of their sadness and end up crying on various occasions.

While this emotion is grave enough, it doesn’t require much attention. Simply using interactions like Cry It Out would be enough for these Sims. By venting their sadness, Sims can often get back on track more easily than others. Take it slow with these Sims and they will cope in no time.

Using Cheats To Fix A Grief Moodlet

The Sims 4 allows the usage of cheats to make things easier for players. This method is completely optional but can help bypass some difficult gameplay if you want or need to.

Using cheats in The Sims 4 will disable console achievements. If you wish to get certain achievements out of your gameplay, it is recommended not to use it.

To use cheats in The Sims 4: Life and Death, you’ll have to follow these steps.

  • Open the Dev Console by using designated shortcuts.
    • PC: Crtl+Shift+C.
    • Consoles: Press all four triggers at the same time.
  • After opening the Dev Console, write “TestingCheats On” in the defined area and hit enter.
  • Again, in the same console write “sims.remove_all_buffs” to reset their feelings.

Alternatively, you can also use Shift+Click on The Sims 4 PC and select a mood, you want your Sims to be in.

You can also fix their mood via gameplay means with the usage of Moodlet Solver elixir. You can acquire one through the aspirations menu. However, it is an expensive item that can only be purchased with Satisfaction Points.
