Fortnite Battle Pass Is Getting More Expensive

Fortnite Battle Pass Is Getting More Expensive

Key Takeaways

  • Starting on December 1, 2024, the Fortnite Battle Pass will cost 1,000 V-Bucks.
  • The Chapter 6 Battle Pass will be the first to cost more than 950 V-Bucks.
  • Subscribers will also only be able to unlock Crew rewards as long as they’re actively subscribed.

The Fortnite Battle Pass will cost 1,000 V-Bucks starting on December 1, 2024, making the Chapter 6 Battle Pass the first to cost more than 950 V-Bucks. Fortnite players have always been able to purchase the Battle Pass with 950 V-Bucks, which would then allow them to earn it all back and then some by reaching level 100. Over time, Epic Games has made it harder for gamers to get their in-game currency back by lowering the number of quests and XP methods available and by giving V-Bucks as Bonus Rewards, meaning gamers had to reach a higher season level in Fortnite to get all the Battle Pass V-Bucks.

To get V-Bucks, Fortnite‘s in-game currency, fans have to use real money. They can either buy Starter Packs, V-Bucks bundles, or Quest Packs. However, it has become more complicated for some players since V-Bucks prices went up in 2023, and again in 2024 in certain countries. Save the World Founders are the only players that have access to free V-Bucks, and Epic Games has also made it harder for them to earn V-Bucks by removing login rewards and scrapping the Collection Book feature.

While this announcement has many players ecstatic, Epic Games is failing to understand what made Fortnite: OG so appealing in the first place.

Epic Games is now increasing the cost of the Battle Pass as well. Fortnite Remix ends on November 30 at 10 PM ET, and Chapter 6 should start on December 1. Once the new Battle Pass goes live, its price will be 1,000 V-Bucks rather than the usual 950 V-Bucks. According to iFireMonkey, another reliable leaker, changes are also being made to the way Fortnite Crew works. Subscribers will only be able to unlock Crew rewards as long as they’re subscribed, whereas before, gamers would immediately claim and keep the Battle Pass as soon as they bought Crew. Now, they will only be able to unlock rewards if they’re an active subscriber and don’t cancel their subscription.

When Will the Fortnite Battle Pass Changes Go Live?

  • The price of the Fortnite Battle Royale Pass will increase to 1,000 V-Bucks starting December 1, 2024

This change was probably made to discourage players from only purchasing the Crew Pack every two seasons. If they want to guarantee that they’ll receive every Fortnite Crew reward, they must subscribe once they’ve unlocked all rewards or close to the Battle Pass end date, so they can claim all rewards up until their maximum season level.

On the bright side, the Fortnite Battle Royale game mode Battle Pass is the only one getting a price increase. On top of that, Fortnite Crew members will also get access to the other passes in Fortnite, such as the Music Pass, the LEGO Pass, and the rumored Fortnite OG Pass.
