Metroid Prime 4 Villain Sylux Makes Good On 17 Year Old Promise
It’s been 17 years since this random side character got promoted to main villain status in Metroid Prime 3.
That was until Nintendo’s Direct in June of this year, in which the company revealed a brand-new trailer and a 2025 release date.
Following that news, things went quiet again, but fans think something is coming soon after the game was recently added to the official Metroid website.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Appears On Official Metroid Website
As spotted by Vasishath over on Reddit, Nintendo has seemingly added details for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond to its official website. It was reportedly added at the same time as Metroid: Zero Mission, which is available to play through Nintendo Switch Online.
Appearing after Metroid Prime Remastered and Metroid Dread, the Beyond section includes the recent trailer and text that says: “Embark on a new mission coming to Nintendo Switch in 2025.”
Naturally, after being starved for so long, fans of the series have chosen to believe news is coming soon.
Typically, Nintendo doesn’t make major reveals outside of its Direct showcases. However, the company has recently been more lax with that rule, announcing the Alarmo alarm clock, the Nintendo Music app, and the Xenoblade Chronicles X Switch port on social media in the last couple of months.
Outside of social media, The Game Awards is a little over three weeks away. Nintendo doesn’t usually have much of a presence at Geoff Keighley’s yearly showcase, so an appearance there is unlikely, but the company has shown things off there in the past, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility. Most notably, Nintendo revealed both Joker and Sephiroth for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at the event, with the infamous Sephiroth killing Mario fake-out trailer dropping during the show.
Here’s hoping Metroid bucks the trend.
Metroid Prime 4 continues the series of first-person games that blend the action-adventure and shooter genres, currently in development for the Nintendo Switch.
