After a long wait, the highly-requested Fresh Vanilla servers for World of Warcraft are finally coming back on November 21, 2024, but things are a little bit different this time around. In 2019, the original launch of WoW Classic saw the release of several different servers for each type, including RP servers, across all time zones.

Which WoW Classic Fresh Server Should You Choose?
The three different server types provide players a choice between three different experiences.
- Most casual players, or players who just want to engage with the PvE content in the game, should choose the Normal server for their region (Mol’dar’s Moxie). On these servers you don’t have to worry about random combat with higher-level players from the other faction, and you will be able to resurrect when you die. This is the “default” server that most players will pick, as the other two server types can be off-putting for many reasons.
- PvP servers also let you resurrect when you die, but because World PvP is enabled with the opposite faction, you will have to be a lot more careful when traversing Contested territory. PvP servers are fun for a lot of reasons, and they are great if you want to immerse yourself in the faction war or raise the stakes while leveling. But they can be quite annoying at times, like when you are being ganked by a Rogue 30 levels higher than you in Stranglethorn Vale, or when an instance entrance is completely blocked by the opposite faction killing everyone that tries to enter.
- Hardcore servers don’t feature PvP combat, but when you die, that’s it. Game over, do not pass Go, go straight to Character Creation and go agane. If this is your first time playing WoW, Hardcore is definitely not recommended, as it requires a certain level of game knowledge to avoid annoying deaths. But if you’re up for the challenge, and feel like you have a good grasp on WoW, Hardcore servers are definitely worth trying.
Ultimately, choose the WoW Classic Fresh server that most suits your style of gameplay. If you like to take your time and are familiar with WoW Classic, try Hardcore Mode for something new that will challenge your skills. If you want to engage in World PvP, you must create a character on a PvP realm. But if neither of these play styles appeals to you, go with the PvE server.
You can create characters on all three servers, you are not restricted to choosing just one WoW Classic server. But you can only create characters of a single faction on the PvP server. Choose carefully between the Horde and the Alliance, as you will be locked into that faction. The only way to create a character of the opposite faction on a PvP server is to delete your existing characters.
