Aizen is one of the best characters in Bleach. At first, he seems like nothing more than a run-of-the-mill Commander with a kind disposition. However, near the end of the Soul Society arc, Aizen reveals his true disposition by initiating a betrayal for the ages. It makes for one of the coolest moments in the entire show and sets the stage for future arcs, although there’s no denying that this villain was slightly wasted in Bleach‘s long run.

However, Aizen still has his moments and decimates the strongest Shinigami around. It takes a ton of effort from Ichigo and his friends to finally take down this powerful Shinigami once and for all, with Ichigo having to utilize his strongest move and sacrificing his powers to put a stop to this tyrant’s actions. It’s easy to see why sales of the Bleach manga tanked after he was defeated in humiliating fashion by Ichigo. This villain had the “it factor,” surprising readers with a betrayal at the end of the brilliant Soul Society arc and trying to achieve his nefarious plans by any means necessary. It helped that Aizen had his fair share of powers that could dazzle foes and readers alike, using his amazing skills to school other Shinigami and show them just how out of their depth they were in the face of his overwhelming opposition.

8 Shunpo

Pretty much every competent Shinigami needs to gain mastery of Shunpo if they wish to battle against tough threats without too many issues. This technique allows users to move faster than the eye can see, allowing them to dodge high-impact moves and also catch their enemies unawares.

While this is a basic technique that almost everyone knows in Bleach, Aizen’s mastery is something to be noted. He’s incredibly fast to the point where he can dodge point-black attacks with ease. The sheer way in which he can humiliate his opponents makes Aizen one of the best and most proficient users of Shunpo.

Despite Ichigo being at the peak of his strength, Aizen was still able to bring it to the protagonist and push Ichigo against the ropes for a brief moment during their battle. It’s a shame that f nansever got to see the true extent of his swordsmanship skills in his Hogyoku form before Ichigo pulled off a transformation out of nowhere and unleashed a brutal technique that incapacitated Aizen at the cost of his Shinigami powers.

Being immortal might not be an ability per se, but the sheer amount of times Aizen’s durability has saved him from a tough spot needs to be commended. His resilience has helped him get through some powerful attacks without losing his life, with notable inclusions being Ichigo’s Mugetsu and the attacks of Yhwach.

Aizen attained this immortality after merging with the Hogyoku, with a part of this transformation being permanent. This allowed him to attain the gift of immortality, although this was slightly wasted due to his time in Soul Society prison. Regardless, this immortality is one of his best powers, and the fact that it ranks the lowest on this list means that his other powers are in a class of their own!

4 Kido Mastery

Kido is a form of combat that lets Shinigami use spells in combat. For the most part, their swords and the abilities that come with them are enough for most people to take care of enemies in their way. However, mastering Kido is always a good thing, with the user being able to access a wide array of destructive powers that can destroy even the strongest enemies around.

Aizen showed his powers time and time again with Kido, making him a force to be reckoned with. Given the fact that his Shikai only has one powerful ability, it makes sense as to why he would diversify his attack through the use of Kido. It’s part of the reason why Aizen is such a calculating genius since he realized that he needed to master his illusory powers and utilize traditional forms of attack to win battles against the powerful Shinigami.

3 Immense Reiatsu Volume And Control

Amazing Spiritual Pressure That Adds To His Power

Reiatsu refers to the spiritual pressure that certain powerful figures can generate to augment the power of their attacks. In a way, this can be compared to the power levels of a character, with massive threats wielding a high level of Reiatsu that can be hard to manage at times. Some enemies and people are so weak that even the slight release of Reiatsu in their presence is enough to defeat or severely wound them.

So, it should come as no surprise to learn that Aizen’s Reiatsu is in a class of its own, and he reveals the true extent of his powers after his betrayal. The fact that he was hiding his Reiatsu all along made this reveal even more surprising for both the members of the Gotei 13 and the audience. A rather impressive moment where Aizen gets to flex his Reiatsu once again is while he’s incarcerated and his bindings are slightly removed, allowing him to partially destroy the hands of an attendant who was trying to rebind him.

2 Hogyoku Fusion

Enabled A Transformation That Made Him Even Stronger Than Before

Ideally, this should be Aizen’s strongest power, given that his entire being transformed into something else that could hoard and wield vast volumes of Reiatsu with ease. However, viewers never really got to see the full extent of what this fusion could accomplish since Aizen ended up being bodied by Ichigo’s newfound powers without too many issues.

Regardless, there’s no denying that Aizen could’ve easily destroyed everyone in the real world and Soul Society had it not been for Ichigo’s convenient powerup. It’s a shame since fans were genuinely excited to see an even battle between a powered-up Ichigo and a Hogyoku-fused Aizen, only for the result to be so disappointing that it struck the first of many nails in Bleach‘s coffin.

1 Kanzen Saimin

Incredible Hypnotic Power With His Shikai

Aizen’s strongest ability is also the only technique he’s revealed up to this point. The fact that a powerful figure like Aizen hasn’t shown his Bankai yet is pretty surprising, but his Kanzen Saimin is more than powerful enough to deal with the host of powerful enemies that have tried to stop him.

Kanzen Saimin is a power that lets Aizen hypnotize a person under its control. This is easily one of the most powerful Shikai of all time, and perhaps it’s a good thing that Aizen never really got the chance to showcase his Bankai. After all, it’s possible that this character would become impossible to defeat if he managed to unveil a Bankai that somehow dwarfed his Shikai in power!

Aizen’s Shikai itself is so powerful that he almost managed to overthrow the entirety of Soul Society with this power alone. Along with this, he was also able to fight against Yhwach using this power and triggered the events that led to Ichigo finally landing a mortal blow to take care of The Almighty once and for all.
