The PlayStation VR2 is Ending 2024 with a Bang

The PlayStation VR2 headset has had a bit of a mixed track record since its launch back in February 2023. When PSVR2 initially hit store shelves, it came with a whopping $550 price tag, earning criticism for being even more expensive than the console needed to use it. It didn’t help that PSVR2’s killer app, Horizon: Call of the Mountain, didn’t meet critical expectations.

But the PlayStation VR2 has come quite a long way in the last 21 months. PSVR2 is now home to great experiences like Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Before Your Eyes, Moss: Book 2, and most recently, Metro: Awakening. And hopefully, some more are about to join that growing list, with PSVR2 set to receive a few intriguing titles before the end of 2024.

PlayStation VR2 Has a Solid Line-Up For The Rest of 2024

Trombone Champ: Unflattened – November 26, 2024

A surprise Indie hit of 2022, the original Trombone Champ made waves with its oddly difficult but freeing rhythm-based gameplay and its deliberately absurd presentation. On November 26, PSVR2 users will be able to experience the bizarre joy of Trombone Champ in virtual reality, as Trombone Champ: Unflattened is set to hit the platform. Trombone Champ: Unflattened will let players freely control the titular brass instrument through a variety of songs in its campaign, collect a range of stylized trombones, and open up packs of Tromboner Cards, all in a virtual world.

Masters of Light – December 18, 2024

Originally released back in May for the Meta Quest 3, Masters of Light is set to hit PSVR2 on December 18, albeit with a few changes. While the original game revolved around hand-tracking, Masters of Light‘s PSVR2 release will use the headset’s Sense controllers, letting players use them to wield five impressive, upgradable superpowers in their battle to save the universe against cosmic forces.

Alien: Rogue Incursion – December 19, 2024

Probably the most anticipated PSVR2 release for the rest of the year, Alien: Rogue Incursion will launch on December 19. Heavily inspired by James Cameron’s more action-focused sequel, Aliens, Alien: Rogue Incursion will see players suit up as Zula Hendricks, a former Colonial Marine who’s tasked with clearing out a research facility full of evolved Xenomorphs. During Alien: Rogue Incursion, players will be able to wield iconic series equipment, such as the M41A Pulse Rifle and Motion Tracker.

Skydance’s Behemoth – December 5, 2024

Though it wasn’t included in the latest PlayStation Blog post centered around upcoming PSVR2 games, Skydance’s Behemoth will apparently launch on December 5, 2024, according to the game’s official website. Seemingly inspired by titles like Shadow of the Colossus, Behemoth will see players scaling giant beasts and slaying fantastical foes with physics-based weaponry.

A recent leak suggests that PSVR2 might receive a ~30% discount for Black Friday, so those without a headset might want to keep an eye on PlayStation’s official store.

Hitman: World of Assassination – March 27, 2025

Originally set to release in December 2024, Hitman: World of Assassination will now hit PSVR2 on March 27 of next year. Hitman: World of Assassination will let players experience the entire base game from an all-new perspective. This PSVR2 update will also introduce VR-specific features like active reloading, on-body holstering, and dual-wielding using both Sense controllers. Hitman: World of Assassination‘s PSVR2 upgrade will be available for $9.99 for those who already own the base game.
