The Outer Worlds 2 was first announced in 2021 during the Xbox Showcase presentation, and all we know about the game is what the tagline says: “New solar system, new crew, same Outer Worlds.” It’ll likely keep the same irreverent sense of humor in its marketing as the first game had.
We estimate that the sequel entered development in 2019, following the success of The Outer Worlds. With over half a decade in development, it could be reasonably far along the process – but with Obsidian Entertainment also having found success with the likes of Grounded, its other titles could be taking up its time right now.

The Outer Worlds 2 has, so far, only been shown in one trailer. In it, we see several alien planets, monsters, and a lone space explorer standing at the precipice of it all: you. The narrator of the trailer explains that, at the time, “the developers haven’t finished the design, or finished the story, or finished any gameplay that’s ready to show.”
