10
Shroofus Sproutsire
Anime – $15.36
The anime cards from Foundations Jumpstart take up most of the high-value cards from the set, starting with the Saproling legendary Shroofus Sproutsire. This little guy has some adorable artwork with tiny little buddies walking around with them.
This card has some very neat mechanics with it, rewarding you for dealing lots of damage with your Saproling creatures. They have trample themselves, though they’re starting off at a measly 1/1 stat-wise. Just give them some power upgrades or get a lot of little Saprolings to spread the damage out, and you’ll have yourself a commanding board.
9
Dionus, Elvish Archdruid
Anime – $15.58
Elves made a big comeback with Foundations, and the new Dionus, Elvish Archdruid helps your Elves be even better than before. While slightly higher on the mana cost scale than most other Elves, Dionus comes with a strong ability to make it worth it.
Anytime you tap an Elf during your turn, you get to put a +1/+1 counter on it and then you untap that Elf. It only happens once a turn but can give you double the activations on your abilities, which is pretty darn good given the number of Elves that produce mana.
8
Thurid, Mare Of Destiny
Anime – $15.91
Pegasi have always been a beloved kindred type in Magic, and Thurid, Mare of Destiny is a brand new entry to the growing creature type. This legendary creature gets the anime art treatment that is special with Jumpstart Foundations, making it a collector’s dream.

Theme packs in Foundations Jumpstart are random, but these are the best ones you can shuffle up with.
Anytime you cast a Pegasus, Unicorn, or Horse spell, you get to copy that card. The copied version is now a token, but that’s almost as good, especially in Commander. Thurid also gives all those creatures a bonus +1/+1, which is a pretty solid lord effect to have in the Command Zone.
7
Hurska Sweet-Tooth
Anime – $19.02
A delightful anime card from Jumpstart Foundations, Hurska Sweet-Tooth has some amazing little details in the art that collectors will love. Flying around Hurska you can see several little sheep/bumblebees buzzing around, which is almost better than the Bear themselves.
Attacking with Hurska makes a Food token, which you can use to gain three life when you pay two mana and sacrifice it. Then, anytime you gain life, you can pay either a white or a green mana. If you do, Hurska gives a creature +X/+X, with X equal to the amount of life you just gained. You basically have a Giant Growth on board at all times for the cost of three mana.
6
Vilis, Broker Of Blood
Anime – $21.47
Vilis, Broker of Blood is a popular Demon in Commander given the sheer amount of power that’s packed into this guy. It gets a pretty intense anime art treatment now, with the Demon holding a quill out for you to sign at your own peril.
This huge Demon provides you with all sorts of ways to combo off. Even without a solid combo on board, it synergizes with so many other cards it can be overwhelming. If you’re looking to upgrade a Commander deck with this exclusive variant, it will be worth it.
5
Taeko, The Patient Avalanche
Anime – $24.12
A pretty unique legendary creature, Taeko, the Patient Avalanche is a Turtle Ninja, which is amazing to start, especially given their headband. But this legendary creature is a ninjutsu Commander at heart, powering your Ninjas so you can get easy triggers each turn.

Foundations is bringing all sorts of new and returning Magic: The Gathering Commanders to the game, but which are the best?
Since Taeko’s ability has a blue and black hybrid mana cost to activate it, you can run Taeko with all the best Ninja creatures since they’re found in those colors. If you do activate it, you can make an attacking creature unblockable, including Taeko himself.
4
Evereth, Viceroy Of Plunder
Anime – $27.16
Anime cards are all the rage in Foundations Jumpstart and with Evereth, Viceroy of Plunder, you get a powerful-looking one. This Vampire Soldier gets a +1/+1 counter by sacrificing another creature or artifact. If it was a Treasure, she also gets lifelink for the turn. You can only do this on your turn at sorcery speed, so make sure you plan ahead.
Anytime Evereth dies, you can pay two mana to deal damage equal to her power to each opponent. With enough setup, mana, and Treasure tokens, you can wipe your opponents out in a single turn, assuming you got her power up high enough.
3
Aphelia, Viper Whisperer
Anime – $47.67
An exceptionally strong legendary creature, Aphelia, Viper Whisperer has plenty of abilities to get the game under your control and keep your opponent’s life total at a manageable amount. Attacking with Aphelia lets you pay two mana to make a 1/1 Snake token with deathtouch, setting up her next ability.
For five mana, you can then make it so that anytime a Gorgon or Snake you control deals combat damage to a player, that player loses half their life, rounded up. Depending on when you’re able to sneak a hit in on your opponent, you can cut out 15 to 20 points of damage, if not more, in a single turn in formats like Commander.
2
Scythecat Cub
Regular Printing – $48.57
The only non-anime card topping the charts in terms of value from Foundations Jumpstart, Scythecat Cub quickly found a place in green decks thanks to its strong ability. This 2/2 Cat has trample and anytime you play a land it gets a +1/+1 counter on it or any other creature you control.
If this has happened once already in a turn, you can double the number of +1/+1 counters on that creature. Since you can fetch lands and search up lands at instant speed, you can do this on your opponent’s turns to set yourself up for a strong attack on your next turn.
Anime – $64.65
The top contender for the most valuable card in Foundations Jumpstart is Rev, Tithe Extractor, an anime art card that puts in a ton of work. Attacking with any creature with Rev out gives one of your creatures deathtouch, discouraging your opponents from blocking since they’ll likely lose whatever creature they’re blocking with.
Then, when those creatures deal damage to a player, you make a Treasure token, look at the top card of their library, and exile it face down. You can cast that card now that it’s in exile, though you have to use the proper mana to cast it, which is where the Treasure tokens come in.
